Trad (Celtic Fiddle Demo) - Henning Nugel

This is my second track for VGM Academy's 21 Day Composition Challenge. 

I'm really proud of this one, it's inspired by imaginings and memories of travelling lonely paths far from home. 

Some of the instruments featured in this track are the viola and double bass from Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2 Pro, Sptifire Labs Dulcimer, Embertone's Jubal Flute and the lute and viola de gamba from Eduardo Tarilonte's ERA: Medieval Legends

The Furthest Road

This is my first track for VGM Academy's 21 Day Composition Challenge. 

This piece was inspired by all those wonderful main themes for fantasy games and movies. In the spirit of the challenge this is a total work in progress, but I'm really happy with the melody and overall feel of the piece.  I'm looking forward to returning to this piece to work on it further, but it's time to look to day 2!

I made this using Sptifire Albion One + a snare drum from Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra Pro

Castles And Kingdoms (Demo/Work In Progress)

This is my third track for VGM Academy's 21 Day Composition Challenge.

This one takes a lot of influence from Lorne Balfe's amazing Skylanders soundtracks, which have this amazing mix of orchestral and electronic music into something that sounds so uniquely video gamey, but also stands on its own.

There's some more polish I'd like to do on this song, especially on the drums. When I come back to this track I want to explore mixing in more percussion like in the middle section with the drum beat. 

Some of the instruments featured on this are the marimba from VSCO2 Pro, Strings from Spitfire Albion One and Spitfire Labs Moon Guitar.

Snowfall In The Valley (Fragment)

This is my fifth track for VGM Academy's 21 Day Composition Challenge.

This track is inspired by minimalism, a very busy day in the city of Melbourne and having way too much coffee. My music is usually very fantasy inspired so I'm actually quite surprised I wrote this myself! 

The instruments this uses is Spitfire Albion One and Embertone's Walker 1955 Concert D piano.

Melbourne Morning

Day 20 of the Fall 2019 #21DaysofVGM is a "Fairy's Fountain" type track, where your tired and wounded heroes can find a moment's respite.

I don‘t know what made me think it‘s okay to write a piece with 13/16 time signature, and changing time signature every few bars... But I did it anyway. Since the 13/16 is a sort of groove, the orchestra managed to internalise this rhythm pretty quickly and even had a lot of fun playing it.

Special mention for the pianist, Laura Livers, for her awesome piano playing and help training the tenor to sing this challenging piece.
