Slam instigated Glasgow's underground House music scene in the late 1980s, going on to be instrumental in the explosion of the UK Techno scene, and their quarter of a century of exploits have seen them travel far and wide, leaving scorch marks on dance floors everywhere while taking their uncompromising vision of Techno around the world. A key figure in Russian techno community, Nastia Reigel started out by organizing illegal dance parties in Siberia. That tenacity and dedication later found her in Saint Petersburg, where she launched the first-ever queer parties in the city called Грань (Grahn’), the notoriety of which was soon featured in DAZED. She spent years accumulating mixing techniques and selection skills that have given her a unique voice as a musician and a DJ, along with a busy touring schedule in Russia, Europe, Australia, and North and South America.

Nastia's obsession with achieving deeper understanding of electronic music, modern art and constant development of techno sound finds its reflection in her mixes and production. Her vinyl releases 'Trust, Intimacy' and 'Disarm To Surrender' on Enemy Records demonstrate a perfect balance of artistic taste, technical ability and has already garnered support from established techno musicians. In April 2020 Nastia makes her debut on TOKEN Records.   

As a multidisciplinary artist, Nastia has written music for several art-house films, which has broadened her scope as a musician well beyond techno, to various other experimental audio and visual projects. One of them is her post-punk alias Rosa Damask that first appeared on Vatican Shadow’s Berghain Mix 09; soon after, she released an album on his widely revered Hospital Productions label.

The 122nd FrenzyPodcast will be provided by the Marseille-born DJ and producer, Hemka. Hemka’s life has been influenced with music since a young age, growing up in a musical family and playing bass guitar as a teenager. However, her musical career lifted off since 2016 with “Drunk Violins”, which was released on Scryptom. Since then, the French artist released on many renowned labels such as Rekids, Bpitch, Symbolism, Float, among others. Her productions are full of shrewd, minimalistic sounds – paradoxically enough making up her very maxed-out production style. Ambitious and goal driven, she has just launched her own label called ‘Nerudo’, on which she’s about to release her first 4tracks EP.

Hemka says: “Music plays a vital role in my life. It allows me to clear my head, to express my feelings: my joys, my sorrows, my anger. All that I very often have trouble communicating in a general way.”

For Frenzy, Hemka created a 1h+ mix in which she provides the heavier grooves, containing tracks from fellow artists and own unreleased work. Listen to the sound of Hemka here, enjoy!
