9TRANE’s beginnings are a hard 140 instrumentalist featuring heavily previously on grime labels such as 1Forty have solidified hard hitting and gritty tonality to his sound. His progression into the 130 bass and techno scene then combined these elements with the groove and flow of techno and electro. 9TRANES percussion is a force to be reckoned with, slashing through the sonic walls of dark and dangerous basses and ethereal atmospherics.

The Slang EP builds a scene of intense suspense. Dark and ghostly halls of sound surround with distant swelling vocal cuts that build the wavering storm that is about to come crashing in. The storm then rolls in with an engulfing swell of deep and wobbling bass, sharp and crispy claps and percussion rolls through as the storm continues."

Sir Dub Muzik welcomes back I.T.Z for his second release on the label: the Velvet Gloom EP. Across two cuts, he dives deeper into his darker side, blending heavy pressure with eerie atmospheres to shape a sound that’s unmistakably his own.

“Interzone” sets the tone with ghostly textures, sharp percussion, and a driving low-end that pulls the listener straight into its shadowy world. It’s cold, hypnotic, and built for the system.

Flipping over, “Ilmu Hitam” (Malay for black magic) brings a rawer energy. Menacing sound design and rolling basslines twist around ritual-like percussion, summoning an intensity that feels both ancient and futuristic.

With Velvet Gloom, I.T.Z sharpens his vision—two tracks that balance weight with atmosphere, and mark another step forward.

"'UNTD004'sees United’s discography continue to grow as Moscow’s Trizna releases his EP 'Raid', a fusion of sounds at 140bpm, creating what Trizna describes as 'Primal Grime'. The sounds employed by Trizna in this project could at once be described as both minimalist and industrial, creating a dark atmosphere with a somewhat sense of disjoint. 

"The tracks, ‘Raid’, ‘One Step’, ‘Splinter’, ‘Upyr’ and ‘Edge’, all sound very much unique. Some taking on a more breaks-like feel due to their sample selection, without compromising their integrity as ‘Grime,’ music, and some, like ‘Edge,’ tending much more towards a Dubstep-based sound on account of the drum structure. Nevertheless, there is an undeniable sonic continuity between the tracks, and whilst Spacesurfer and Хандра (Handra) are other aliases under which Trizna produces music, the Trizna project gives an inescapable nod to Old-School Grime.

"The artwork for this EP is a medieval engraving of siege the Polotsk by Moscow Army. This engraving was made by unnamed Europeans who had never seen either the Polotsk or the Russians. This potentially makes for interesting symbolism as to how the Russian Grime contingent views its impact on the genre."
