I didn't understand it at the time. I fail to achieve any degree of understanding in the ensuing years, which are three in number. I presume Herb means that inherently you cannot be commercial and artistic. You cannot be commercial and quality. You cannot be commercial concurrent with have a preoccupation with the level of storytelling that you want to achieve. And this I have to reject. I don't think calling something commercial tags it with a kind of an odious suggestion that it stinks, that it's something raunchy to be ashamed of. I don't think if you say commercial means to be publicly acceptable, what's wrong with that?
As long as you are not ashamed of anything you write if you're a writer, as long as you're not ashamed of anything you perform if you're an actor, and I'm not ashamed of anything.
This is the area I know. But I think innate in what Herb says is the suggestion made by many people that you can't have public acceptance and still be artistic. And, as I said, I have to reject that.

The stark landscapes and crisp climates that characterize the winter months can clarify, if not intensify, our emotions. Music released this time of year has a tendency to be especially raw and poignant, which is certainly the case for the five exceptional cuts featured on "Winter Selections 03."

The release opens with "Perfect Travel," a lush and evocative deep-progressive gem by Silk newcomer Mcvinski. The Russian talent crafts a gorgeous, almost mystical soundscape in the early going, which is soon joined by a funky and erotic groove. In the main breakdown gorgeous pads and hypnotic synths create a deep and sensual, yet equally climactic score. In the final minutes of the composition, the various melodic and atmospheric elements are re-introduced one last (glorious) time.

Excited to welcome back Illumia, whose last contribution to our imprint, "I See U," dates back to the end of 2014. The equally deep, soothing, and sexy "I Know" is proffered here; the song derives its name from an infectious vocal hook that appears throughout the composition, in varying pitches. A buoyant and uplifting groove underpins the arrangement, and a variety of subtle and elegant melodic touches further enhance the sanguine soundscape. 

Responsible for two glorious deep-progressive EPs on our imprint in 2017, Alex Pich contributes "Way Home Inside," another standout tune from the promising Russian composer. Subtly melodic, yet profoundly evocative textures envelop the soundscape in the early going. A patient rhythmic crescendo ultimately leads to a suspenseful, string-backed breakdown. The delicious tension of the arrangement is finally released in the song's latter half, in which the delicate (and gorgeous) melodic layers coalesce to lush and emotive effect.

Itwo5 (Ukraine) and singer-songwriter Ana Ana (Germany), both Silk Music newcomers, grace the achingly beautiful "Sea." Chilled beats and moody pads underpin Ana Ana's wistful vocals. The innovative broken-beat rhythm picks up a little bit of steam as the song progresses, but the overall listening experience, ideally suited for the after hours, is one of deep contemplation for the listener.

Conor Hynes officially launches his Aleyum alias on our imprint, courtesy of the stunning progressive breaks cut "Soul Remedy." The Irish talent crafts a celestial soundscape in the early going, replete with ethereal pads, cinematic atmospheric touches, and, of course, star-studded synth lines. The deeply cathartic main breakdown unites the harmonious sounds of Mother Nature with the gorgeous melody lines introduced earlier in the song, including a timeless guitar riff.

Nicole Moudaber links with Hector on the inaugural release for his new VLack imprint, an outlet that will focus on the deeper shades of techno. 

Combining Hector's stripped back approach with Nicole's driving hypnotic essence they deliver the 'Retrosaw’ EP, which features a deep, moody and minimal title track.

To celebrate the launch of the VLack label, Hector has invited Nicole to join him at his home venue Bar America’s to play the Guadalajara event on February 22.

Grammy® nominated electronic musician, technologist and composer BT unveils his two-disc "Laptop Symphony" mix compilation on May 14th (digital) and June 11th (physical), 2012, globally. A face-melting, mind-altering collection of pristinely mixed tracks evocative of BT’s live shows of the same name, "Laptop Symphony" is a must-have release for discerning EDM (electronic dance music) lovers. Disc-one is a snarling, growling assemblage of the nastiest, most sonically vicious dubstep, electro and breakbeats; disc-two is a victorious team of trance hits reimagined for today’s world-weary festival-goer.

Disc-one kicks-off with BT & Adam K’s “Tomahawk,” a blistering tune that’s been demonizing dubstep and electro-friendly shows across North America and Europe, before mainlining into Savoy’s “Kili” and then Wolfgang Gartner’s “Menage A Trois,” the latter a brutally syncopated aural assault. BT demonstrates that American bass music is alive-and-well, and that there’s an entire universe of exquisite electro-dubstep beyond Skrillex; annihilating pieces like Xilent’s “Choose Me II” and Porter Robinson & Lazy Rich ft Sue Cho’s “Hello” are perfect examples. Track after scorching track on disc-one, BT lays forth his master plan for moving bodies with heavy bass and obese beats not meant for the weak-of-heart. The filthy production and hypnotic staccato stabs of DJ Spoko & Mugwanti’s “Mugwanti” linger in the air long after they’re heard, and just before the breaks-laden ecstasy becomes unbearable, BT transitions to disc-two with the angelic vocals of JES on Cosmic Gate’s “Flying Blind.”

Disc-two opens like a dream, with richly hued, idyllic landscapes drifting past. Stop to listen, really listen. It’s in these otherworldly dimensions of audio utopia where BT’s magic lives. Time stands still as waves of unspeakable beauty waft over the listener with delicious melodies embedded in tunes like Andrew Bayer’s “Counting The Points” and BT’s own hit single “In The Air” with Morgan Page and Sultan & Ned Shepard ft Angela McCluskey. Dare to daydream to Aurosonic & Ange’s “Without You”, until BT ft Kirsty Hawkshaw’s “A Million Stars” jolts you from your reverie with Hawkshaw’s heavenly vocals. Harmonic synths get hands in-the-air on Ashley Wallbridge’s “Vision,” and BT keeps the euphoria flowing straight into Arty’s remix of Ferry Corsten’s “Punk,” a classic track aged like a fine wine. When mashed with Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The world,” the result is a monster with a life of its own! BT then drops Allure (a moniker of Tiësto) ft Christian Burns’ “On The Wire” before segueing into his own killer track with Tiësto, “Love Comes Again,” with BT on vocals. The piece-de-resistance is BT’s timeless anthem, the impossibly gorgeous “Flaming June,” reworked by BT for this release.
