On Thursdays during the fall and spring semesters, the Center for Biographical Research (CBR) presents a weekly lecture series called Brown Bag Biography. This page provides audio recordings of our three most recent talks. For access to our older recordings, email us at biograph@hawaii.edu.

CBR serves as a meeting place and forum for an international array of biographers, scholars, students, and community members. Our programs include teaching, publication, and community outreach activities, all directed toward expanding the understanding of life writing--a field that explores concepts like identity and memory through material as diverse as letters, diaries, film, novels, blogs, photo albums, "traditional" auto/biography, and Facebook.

Our Brown Bag series is the longest-running lecture series on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus and offers an informal forum for the university and the community to hear about current projects in all fields pertinent to life writing (e.g., auto/biography, identity [race, class, gender, indigeneity], oral history, translation, genre, celebrity, ethics, etc.) and to the telling/sharing of people’s lives.

I live in Hawaii (currently).  I play guitar and make songs.  Sometimes they're good.  Sometimes they're ass.  You decide.
