Department of Sound is a Sacramento-based non-profit organization that was created with a mission to provide opportunities to youth through sound.

Founded by Sacramento natives John Hamilton and Tyler Garnett, Dept. Of Sound was launched in 2019 with the belief that everyone should have access to production education and its benefits. The program was founded out of a desire to give all students access to audio and music as a community utility, rather than a luxury.
