Don't Let Love Go By

Nucleotides is Trev Gibb's first solo album release, produced by Mick Ross of Mono Productions at The Tower in the Ouseburn, with initial recording sessions engineered by Mark Broughton at Blast Studios. Recorded between autumn of 2013 and the winter of 2015 the album has gone through various permutations, starting out as a single project with David Burn (Detroit Social Club) before becoming an album-project under the tutelage of Mick Ross and Mono Productions. During work on the album Trev and his band supported Kaiser Chiefs and Public Service Broadcasting at Newcastle Arena in the spring of 2015 and subsequently played at The Stadium of Light and  Lindisfarne Festival, culminating in a single launch and digital-only double-A single release Old Wounds/Skinny Arms on the Mono Productions label in January 2016.  

The album features quite the array of North-East musical talents, with Tom Fletcher (The Lake Poets, Hyde & Beast) on pedal steel, synth and piano from Dale Knight (Keep Breathing), Fran O'Hanlon (Ajimal), Matt Hardy (Tessera Skies) and Rob Murray (Minotaurs) on drums, and Chris Murray (Minotaurs) and ex Let's Buy Happiness / current EatFast and Apologies' Mark Brown both on bass. The album also features guest vocals and guitar from Martin Longstaff (The Lake Poets), guitar from Matt Weaver (Rushers of Din) and Nick Sheffield and violin and mandolin from Patrick Lawrence and Guy Bainbridge respectively.

The album will self-release on Nov 4th on Spotify, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.

Андрій  Хливнюк про пісню “Колишня”:  “Колишня”- це не тільки розмова о третій годині ночі з тишею з того боку телефонної слухавки. Це ще і риторика на тему жіночої краси в тому вигляді, в якому її сприймає сучасна культура. У світі худих і молодих, відомих і не дуже, щось пішло не так. Поняття жіночої і чоловічої краси загубилося в силіконово-ботоксних джунглях. Про це "Колишня" - мікс з джанглу, блюзу і нової рок-музики. Ми зробили цю пісню дуже швидко, думаю, на все витратили пару днів і в цьому, безумовно, заслуга Павла Литвиненка, саундпродюсера синглу “Голий Король”  і нашого клавішника. Незважаючи на те, що пісня писалася легко, на мій погляд вийшла одна з найсерйозніших пісень в арсеналі Бумбоксу, наскільки, звичайно, популярна музика може бути серйозною.”

Written in 1982, this song first appeared on the 1985 album 'Boat to Bolivia'. 

The renowned Martin Stephenson with The Daintees have announced a UK tour performing their acclaimed and most celebrated album ‘Boat To Bolivia’ in its entirety, 26 years since its debut. 

County Durham singer-songwriter Martin Stephenson’s has an impressive reputation for hearty live shows and this tour follows the success of when Martin and The Daintees performed ‘Boat To Bolivia’ in full at two sold out shows the Jazz Café three years ago. 

Martin Stephenson’s early love of literature and music led to the formation of the first Daintees line-up in his early teens. After becoming something of a busking sensation, Newcastle record label Kitchenware signed Martin and The Daintees and sent them into the studio.  After two singles, notable among which was 1982's intoxicating "Roll On Summertime", a debut album was embarked upon. The Daintees line-up at this time comprised Stephenson (guitar, vocals), Anthony Dunn (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), John Steel (keyboards, harmonica, bass, vocals) and Paul Smith (drums, percussion). 

‘Boat To Bolivia’ was released in 1986, was praised by the New Musical Express because it "builds bridges between love and hate, between cradle and grave, between folk and pop, between the past and present". The candidness and honesty of Martin Stephenson's lyrics were best portrayed on songs "Caroline" and "Crocodile Cryer". He also revealed his appreciation of the folk/blues rag guitar style with "Tribute To The Late Reverend Gary Davis" as well as regular live performances of Van Dyke Parks' "High Coin".

This will be Martin Stephenson and The Daintees first full tour in 20 years and are not to be missed.
