'It's Everywhere' is a concept EP soundtracking Tendts' intergalatic encounter with The Pleiadians (dimension traversing Nordic aliens to the unenlightened) at the far edge of the universe. Upon their journey home they brought with them not only costumes, masks and relics of extraterrestrial civilizations, they brought with them the spirits of two great celestial beings, Momongo and Floflolo. Fotis and Christos were the reincarnation of these two and the main purpose of their return was to enlighten the people of Earth about the beginning of the era of the Cosmic Swimmer.

Tendts are two brothers that make "music that you can dance to, or not". It seems an odd phrase, but aptly explains the duality of the Greek duo. The compositions of Christos and Fotis Papadakis are both emotive and movement inducing, even though they are written and structured with disparate elements that refuse to fall into obvious patterns. They consist of palpitating beats, imaginative textures, seductive melodies and sporadic bursts of treated vocals.

Christos and Fotis have spent a lifetime playing mus ic together, creating sounds and tinkering with instruments in their native Thessaloniki. Some of their earliest joint experiments were included on their first EP, 'Slow Years'. Three more records followed: a four song 12 ” released on Berlin based Project Mooncircle; a self-released compilation entitled 'Accept F ailure As Part Of The Process' on which experimental pieces were inspired by their favourite artists (including William S. Burroughs and Joseph Beuys); and more recently their debut LP 'Cheap Poetry' on Fair Weather Friends records. They have performed around Europe and shared the stage w ith names like Death in Vegas, BadBadNotGood, oOoOO, Submerse, and Werkha and have presented their live set in various festivals with the highlight being Sonar Festival as We Are Europe affiliates.

Jamie 3:26 is known as one of Chicago’s true House Music soldiers, with the style very closely linked to the sound of Ron Hardy. Emerging artist Masalo has been bringing consistent heat, making this another powerful collaboration. Strong baseline that is very reminiscent of the Chicago classic, high-speed hi-hat, the vocal with a deeper message inspired by “Red District” from Masalo’s hometown, Amsterdam and with melody of organ that is gradually expanding throughout the track.

Rat Life Records presents Serial Error a Project by Credit 00, Jacob Korn & Sneaker. This outfit was brought to life in 2013 when Red D called for some New Beat style tracks for his "Our Beat Is Still New" Compilation. Flying a bit too low under the radar ever since Rat Life decided to reissue Drum Abuse on a Super Sound Maxi Single. The Track was made in Jacob Korn's headquarter studio / synthesizer museum. The task distribution was hit quickly: Jacob squeezing the acid out of his huge Formant modular system, Credit 00 beating the drums on the Boss DR 660 and Sneaker throwing his unique vocals on top!

The American cable-television industry exploded in the 1980s, pushing broadcasts of diverse programming and emissions of low-laying cultures into homes. Community stations piggybacked on the digital developments of the time, extending their existence through telephony and broadcast affiliates. For those growing up in this time, in locations such as New York City, the localized communications beamed into their homes exposed them to an impressionable array of disparate sounds and visions. Move into the 1990s and New York was filled to the brim of emergent cultures drawing from this ebullition of communication. From Rammellzee’s shapeshifting to Frank and Karen Mendez’s Nu Groove imprint fusing reggae, poetry and house, nascent ideas emanated from the city walls, from within stores such as Sonic Groove store and on VHS releases such as Stakker’s The Evil Acid Baron Show, a legendary technicolor psychedelic trip along the wildest frontiers of acid house. As scenes expanded and identities developed, such individuals weather the events of the visceral now, expressing themselves right into an unpredictable future.

Function’s long career has seen him uncover a vast range of sonic identities, a mainstay through house, techno and industrial with collaborations with the likes of Regis, Damon Wild alongside his highly influential Infrastructure imprint. With influences deeply tied to pop art, rave and gay scenes, and early memories of block-parties emitting Kraftwerk and Strafe, he found himself seeking out the undercover illegal nights of the 90s on a quest of sexual unearthing, mixing the ever-yearning escapology mission of disco with the influential DJ sets of Jeff Mills. For his new album Existenz, he marks a clear step away from the corporeal techno of his recent releases. Pivoting around themes of religion, sexuality, trauma and healing, it is a work expansive and celebratory, a clear liberation from a deeply internalized past. Formed from a collection of recordings made in a period from late 2016 to mid 2019, Existenz takes the form of a creative outburst in reaction to a number of traumas - recent, childhood and throughout Function’s life.

Cosmic synths soar and swoop in ‘Pleasure Discipline’ through towering stacks of rhythm that stutter and creak to a halt before rebooting, a firm robotic response to human intervention. ‘Zahlensender’ reflects a spatial tetris of urban life, as digitalization set within an XYZ matrix confronts the sprawling city. Constant arpeggiated meditations echo synaptic transmissions, effecting a dissolution of boundaries. ’The Approach’ recalls the unification of the self, a state of delirium non-subjective and smooth, as all connections and functions give way to simple intensities of feeling, crossing the threshold into spirituality. ’Golden Dawn’, featuring Stefanie Parnow, marks a further elevation of dubbed-out euphoria, as once more positive rays emerge. Parnow assisted the production process in its entirety, providing inspiration and featuring vocal contributions. His ode to the effortless short-trip urban navigation 'Kurzstrecke' finds Function in motion, upfront and bold, snapshots of conversation and flickers of light. 'Ertrinken' finds metallic bass jabs swamping snipped synthetic voices, with hidden stores of emotion set as a nod to the history of vocoders as a tool for encrypted military communication. House icon Robert Owens features on 'Growth Cycle' and 'Be', entrenching a celebratory atmosphere over Function's clubwise leanings. Closing track 'Downtown 161' reflects the unmistakable filtered and squashed interjections of television, and sampled dance vocals - a sound for the curious, dreamers and dancers.

With Existenz, Function reveals an essential body of work, spread over 4LP/2CD - thought experiments on the role of identity and spirituality after a lifetime of upheaval and trauma.

Volume thirteen in the ever-growing Polena catalogue is solely devoted to the spacey boogie sound of Boryn. A beatmaker, cratedigger and DJ based in Wroclaw, Poland, he released some sample-based house jams for Astropical Tapes - both solo and as a part of Astro Buhloone duo. He also laid a few beats for Polish underground hiphop releases. "Jewels EP" fuses both his house and hiphop background into coherent, unique sound.

Boryn casts his magic spell over eight tracks, sounding not too far away from such contemporaries as Dam Funk, Moon B or Sasac. In its essence, "Jewels EP" is a pure modern funk. It is the music to cruise the streets of your favourite holiday resort town or chill on the porch at night. Catchy sample-based vocal tracks (like "Telephone", co-produced by DYYU∩E) are neighbours with summer beach vibe ("New Home Studio" and "Pretty Drunk Bassplayer"). The title track, with its high BPM, strong groove and cosmic atmosphere is also one of the stand-outs on the EP. It's hard to underestimate the wordclass production level. This beautifully crafted sound allures the listener to take yet another cruise with "Jewels EP" on repeat.
