Following their excellent Urgent Turquoise release for Om Recordings, the eclectic and ambitious San Francisco duo Tone of Arc have contributed their evocative sound to Roam Recordings’ second offering of 2016. Tone of Arc are comprised of Derrick Boyd (previously recording under the name Dead Seal) and Zoe Presnick … through well-received releases for the likes of No. 19 Music, Om Records, and Touch Of Class Records the pair have transmitted a series of moody electronic compositions that draw as much inspiration from cerebral post-punk gigs as sweaty, visceral dance floors. 

“Sundust” opens the single with its methodical tempo and haunting soundscapes, electrified by Derrick’s pensive words. The cut unfolds like a dream as layers of synths and vocal snippets build and vibrate throughout. “The Indigent” is a more stripped-down affair. A straight-forward four-on-the-floor rhythm, accented by big tom fills, creates the space for backwards pads and hinted melodies. It’s a mechanical meditation. Barcelona-based producer Lokier (HAKT, Days Of Being Wild) is also on hand for a haunting remix of “Sundust” that adds a commanding bass line and puts a spotlight on the vocal. Its steady forward motion is hypnotic in effect, intensifying the brain-to-feet aspect of Tone of Arc’s music.

Label founder, @CorneliusDoctor, introduces the first release to the world 'Myth Of Adulthood'. Which is a 4 track journey combing electronic, african and rave sounds.... blending bass arps, vocal samples and spacey effects taking the listener on a hot and humid trip. Synths are the main source of sound substance though, sometimes straight, sometimes swinging but all squeezed together, in a happy symphony.

We look forward to seeing much more from this exciting & fresh new label.

With his fresh, anthemic approach to electronic music producer and DJ Brynjolfur is one of the most promising artist on the Scandiavian electronic scene.

Besides releases on Eskimo and most recently Natura Sonoris and followin on from ‘Chain Glass’, ‘The Save’, ‘M25’ and ‘Technoir’ Brynjolfur now returns with his fifth EP for hafendisko.

On the three brandnew tracks Brynjolfur showcases once more his own unique skills here.

The title track ‘Error Man’ is a chugging slow groover - thick beats and bubbling arps make the foundation, while subtle mind-bending pitch shifts add the wonk.

‘Mercury Vamp’ is a percussive work out - the most outright housy vibe on the release, and even drops a rad 80s/90s inspired melody and chord progression to wrap up this essential EP.

‘Mode Machine’ has a typical snappy groove, tight yet loose, and employs some serious electro-style vocal cut ups and a trippy bass line.

Argia is the new project of Helena Piti, a Spanish DJ and producer who has crossed over from a classic musical education to producing emotive electronic compositions. Having released on the likes of Stil Vor Talent, Mooseekaa and Poesie Musik, Helena delivers a new three-track EP for hafendisko. 

The Stay The Night EP was conceived and recorded at the end of 2018, during an intense creative period for the artist. Fully inhabiting her sound, the tracks concern themselves with the themes of balance and inner peace.
 
‘It’s Right To Cry’ is a deep, emotional slice of electronic dance music, wiry arpeggios wind their way around the thick, infectious beat. 

The title track ‘Stay The Night’ is a shade tougher, with a dramatic chord progressions and evocative field recordings punctuating the driving rhythm. 

The third track ‘Unreleased Thought’, makes up the trio - urgent percussive grooves lay the foundation for beautiful melodic flourishes courtesy of Argia’s well used Korg Monologue.

With almost 30 years of releasing records under his belt, Dino Lenny has naturally built an incredible back catalogue of productions, remixes and collaborations. 

He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business, yet his own productiaons retain a distinct, personal style that is all his own. 

With Camouflaged, Lenny drops polished, groovy dance music that will light up many floors this year. 

The original version rides a solid motorik beat, allowing for moody piano elements and a haunting vocal to take the track to another level. 

Lenny’s sense for drama and space is preserved on the Black and White mix, but with a straighter house groove aimed firmly at the late night dancers. 

Hafendisko regular Brynjolfur also adds his own interpretation of Camouflaged - a driving electronic workout with a filthy, mutating bassline and dramatic pads.

After his 2015 stomper EP on Correspondant, Max Jones makes his debut on Mexican imprint Duro with a 2 original plus 2 remixes EP. The artist that shook the dance floors with tracks like 'Slow' and 'Cornetto' returns to the battlefield after 4 years of silence with a renovated, warmer sound.

'Perisur' is a sinister yet salacious, heavy-breathbing Detroit workout, that sees an unlikely cocktail of elements come together and writhe ecstatically in it's dark, deviant energy. A quiet and confident menace drives the whole track, tightening it's grip on the listener with every beat, so that by the closing bars, you've somehow managed to volunteer full surrender to Perisur''s unsettling and uncertain fate.

Max treats us to a second original production in the shape of 'Poche'. That is, until the devastating analogue hum of dark Detroit waves appear on the horizon, quickly growing into looming towers of seductive, enveloping noise.

Before closing the door, the dark mist then lifts to reveal Cornelius DoctorEmotion and his playful, yet focussed, laser-sighted Discophony; where echo chamber drums, twitched-up melodies, hazy synths and friendly acid gurgles combine to create this unstoppable atmosphere and sense of determination so strong you'll be down the park challenging your PB in no time.
