The Creepy Ones...

Testing out one of several surprisingly effective Feedback model DCS297C Balanced-Modulators orginally designed for educational use to demonstrate data-modulation techniques.  The units were modified for creative studio use at Hideaway including an internal PSU.  The DCS297C is based around the same Motorola MC1496 balanced-modulator chip as the Maestro RM-1 but you get two of them in the one box :-)

In this case the A input was fed with a basic sustained pad from a Peavey SpectrumSynth whilst the B input was fed from a swept sine-wave generated by a WaveTek Model 193 modulated waveform generator.

The resulting output was fed through a gorgeous 1960s all-tube Krohn-Hite laboratory filter to take out some of the harsher upper harmonics.

1986 SCI Prophet VS: The Vectorzone

Made by firing a slow evolving patch from a Yamaha TX802 into a Brüel & Kjær type 1621 band pass filter set to 3% selectivity mode and several hand cranked filter sweeps recorded and overdubbed.

Experimenting with two of the four photo-receiver channels on my prototype Quad Candle LFO CV generator.  In this case two channels are modulating each of two laboratory signal generators to create a gentle ensemble effect whereby both oscillators detune independently as the candle flame flickers in a gentle breeze...

A 1985 Yamaha TX816 producing a monstrous layer of 4 slowly evolving patches played in unison across 4 of the 8 TF-1 modules each with a different pitch LFO rate resulting in something pretty terrifiying!...

1985 Yamaha TX816: Gigasphere
