This song is about a forbidden love in the days of old, where a human offers up themselves as a sacrifice for just one night with their lover to cover their sins. It's about life before the banning of human sacrifice, when religion held power over all the minds of earth, warping their sense of morality into doing the worst things for the sake of goodness. It's a song about me struggling with my own sexuality in the face of religion, taunting death to atone for my own sins, a sacrilegious cry for help and an easy way out. The guitar is meant to sound like it has a murmur as though it’s a fluttering heart to represent the feeling of being in love and the anxiety of death, both an experience every human must go through. Thank God we don’t have to die anymore.
