For Meyer, it feels like a very natural step - he already has a legion of followers sending waves of adulation his way, after his home videos demonstrating his modular setup went viral. Meyer was born without a left forearm, and has hacked a prosthetic to control certain parameters of his modular with his mind. His setup and approach are truly unique, and he is an artist at the very frontier of the innovative intersection of music and technology.

The pairing of artist and label feels very natural, too. DESSERT itself sprung from Black Peters’ long standing residency at Berlin institution ://about:blank, with DESSERT events focusing on providing an organic space for interaction and a platform for deserving artists, often from underrepresented groups.

Walks The Night is an introduction to the sound Meyer has long been cultivating. The title track is emotive melodic techno, pairing his famed modular’s output with heartfelt vocals, crafting a track primed for those tender late night dancefloor moments.
This is followed by Say It To Me, a more dynamic deep house/techno number which is built on undulating arpeggios and uptempo drum patterns. It’s shaded with a strong sense of wistful melancholia, building to a stunning diva vocal moment in the break.

Renowned producer and mix engineer @hannesbieger rounds out the collection with his take on Walks The Night, morphing it into a more subdued and techy roller. He adds a layer of percussive technicality but retains its emotive character, springing its own colourful moments as it glides forward.

With a second EP already approaching completion, expect to hear plenty more from Bertolt Meyer and his modular.
