I wrote this song after reading a book by world renowned hemp activist/educator Jack Herer called "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". I had no idea that after reading this book my life would have changed the way it did. From the basic day to day activities I do all the way down to the way I write my music. I wasn't much of a reader before this book but after I soaked up the potent messages inside I was on a suppressed information hunt to learn as much as I possibly could. I figure if the government was lying to all of us about something as petty as marijuana all for the sake of making money then I could only imagine how much more they were hiding from us. Jack's book taught me to always scratch the surface of a situation if you want the truth. 

I had the honer of meeting and getting to know Jack on a personal level as well. He always treated everyone he encountered with the utmost respect. I have taken several trips to California to attend hemp and medical marijuana rallies with him and others. Jack shared a few cool facts with me that weren't in his book also. He told me that 1%-2% of the population was even aware of this information.  

I was given the opportunity to present the song to Jack after a rally in Santa Barbara a couple years before he passed. At this point I didn't even have a beat for the song. The book impacted me so hard I picked up a pen and wrote a 6 minute song to dead silence. The emotions inflicted by the book were plenty enough for me to go full in on writing my audio version of the Emperor Wears No Clothes. I assumed there had to be a lot of people out there like me that didn't read that much and this was my attempt to get them this important suppressed information. After I rapped the lengthy song to Jack I was given a standing ovation by the few people that were there as they showed a genuine sense of excitement. Jack later pulled me aside and said to me, "I have had tons of people write songs with my name in them". I instantly went from feeling on top of the world to a little discouraged for a moment. I thought to myself, of coarse you have, your book was life changing. He then continued before I could speak, "but it was always about the weed" (He was referring to the medical marijuana strain created in his honor, known as "Jack Herer"). All of a sudden I was in even more shock than hearing him tell me he has had tons of people write songs about him. He told me to be sure to send it to him when it was done and that he really liked the song. Unfortunately Jack never got to hear the song completed. 

It has taken me 3+ years to find the perfect beat to compliment this song and to complete the project. Life as well as multiple projects contributed to the delay but it's finally done. I have listened to the song probably 100 times and the final listen today gave me chills and I felt as if Jack was sitting right next to me. I'm pretty sure we got his approval on this one.
