[PREMIERE] Hektor Legion -  Suculenta (Original Mix)

Dominique Silva Cusidó Aka Dominique Slva started her studies in music at the age of 8. Her instrument is the violin and classical music was her first subject, though while growing up, she tried to listen to all sorts of music genres, including rock, punk, jazz and electronic, to name a few. She became interested in electronic music production 4 years ago and after spending a lot of time mostly learning by herself she signed her first EP on 2021 called “Interrogatif” on XELIMA Records, a Techno Label based in Córdoba Argentina. After her release she signed two more projects in the same label and worked on a collaboration for Live Acts, another label from BA, this time as a violinist. The past February was her debut with her EP Siren Song on X-IMG, SARIN’S label based in Berlin. The EP has five original mixes plus a remix by SARIN.

She is currently working on her Live Set Project, making a lot of new music and expecting for some more to come out.

Regarding her performances, she has played in DJ format in different clubs and music cycles from Argentina, her sound is characterised by a fusion of a more dynamic and percussive techno and some other elements of the classical rave sounds.

[PREMIERE] Ruman - I Forgot To Call You Back

Carlos Orti is a musician based in Berlin, DE. Originally from Spain, he exhibits and performs internationally, including London’s Design Museum, Texas' SXSW, Groningen’s Eurosonic Noorderslag, Linz's Ars Electronica, Bilbao’s BBK Live.

His live and DJ sets oscillate amongst IDM, art-punk, industrial atmospheres, distorted electro, EBM, experimental rock, break beats and heavy techno. As a music producer and multi-instrumentalist, he started his music journey by learning to play the electric guitar in 2007. Always looking for transgressive ways of twist music genres and soundscapes, Carlos found a family with the band Alien Tango in 2016, shortly after moving to London, UK. After performing with them in several festivals and venues across different countries, he decided to focus on more experimental and electronic soundscapes. In order to dig deeper into this, he relocated to Berlin in 2020 to kick-start his solo career. 

For our Higher Ground podcast, orti delivered a progressive set with a Post Punk vibe and genres including Acid, EBM, Upbeat and even Cumbia. Brace your asses.

Higher Ground Podcast | orti @ Cafe 108 Mexico [HGR022]

I came accross UrbnMowgli about a year ago, through his track „Hyperefficiency“, which was released on Bipolar Disorder Rec.‘s first VA „BPD VA001“ in October 2020. Since then he has kept establishing his name in the European undergorund scene, playing at clubs such like ://about blank or at Tresor. I have been able to follow his development as an artist through his music and personal project „Emotional Voyage Rec.“, the imprint he runs with none other than Moodrich.

Emotional Voyage Rec. showcases „emotional“ underground music and has had releases by Wachita China (A.K.A. DJ これからの緊急災害), The Chronics and Nørus, to name a few. So far, they have had four releases, two VA’s, one EP by UrbnMowgli and one by Moodrich. Emotional Voyage releases a wide variety of genres, from breaks, house, acid, trance and everything in between.

UrbnMowgli describes his sound as retro-futuristic, groovy and ravy, including some acid elements, breakbeat influences and creative rhythms. This is an artist that does not shy away to experiment with his style and differ from the mainstream, which is something rare to come about nowadays. In short, you can’t put UrbnMowgli in a box, go and check out the mix he made for our Higher Ground Podcast and feel the groove.

In this interview we get into his creative process, growing up in Belgium and the US, making a name for himself in Berlin, dealing with labels, why he makes music and more. Buckle up girls and boys, because this one is one for the books!

As one of Bergen, Norway’s most thrilling underground techno
weapons, Minus Magnus' sounds stands out for mixing
contemporary, hard and raw techno; and with influences from
Breaks, EBM and Rave music. As a DJ and producer, his take on
techno resonates by combining the dirtiness of analogue and
experimental sounds with body hitting rhythms and euphoric
atmospheres.
Starting from being a former techno and trance DJ in rural Lofoten
Islands, via being a studio producer of all kinds of music, Minus
Magnus has found his way back to the roots and does what he
loves most.
It’s the dancefloors that this DJ taught his outstanding intuitions
for the sounds that make a crowd vibrate. Constant practice and
his dedication to music shaped his method. Known for his mixing
skills, it is the selection that genuinely stands out - a well-curated
mix of known and unknown gems. Minus Magnus seeks the sweet
spot between tracks that are connected via vibe and style.
Also affiliated with the Norwegian brand and label, Mhost Likely, as
label manager and A&R for the techno department (Mhost Likely
Black).

Mateo Usach A.K.A. Dokker (@dokker_____) is a 23 year old young up-and-coming artist from Buenos Aires (Argentina). Dokker is the founder of the party series OVERFOCUS (@overfocus_arg) and creator of Revo Rec. (@revorecords.ar).

Mateo is inspired by the hypnotic side of Techno, in this set he presents versatility that cuts accross genres from Hardgroove, Fast forward, Tribal to Dub Techno. His sound is characterised by being loaded with groove and intensity.

He made his second release on Xelima Rec. (@xelimarecords) with his track "Uorden". He is currently working on a new EP that will feature Dub Techno and Hard Groove sounds.

Dokker is also the co-founder of Hyperlink (@hyperlink420) where he performs the HYPERSWING events, and his duo HOODED (@hooded___) where together with Gina Demarchi (@ginademarchi) they present their sound set in the groove of Berlin.

For our Higher Ground podcast, orti delivered a progressive set with a Post Punk vibe and genres including Acid, EBM, Upbeat and even Cumbia. Also, the set was recorded during his Mexico debut at Café 108 Mexico.

Higher Ground Podcast | Dokker [HGR025]

Our next guest is Hektor Legion (@hektorlegion), a DJ and producer hailing from the streets of Alicante (Spain). Hektor has really been making a name for himself in the Spanish underground Techno scene. Without having had any musical influence from his parents' side, he bought his first Hercules controller at the age of 20, which spiked his interest in Techno and made him want to start producing.

Being a native from the East Coast of Spain in the Valencia area, Hektor is a product of the infamous "La Ruta del Bacalao", which basically embodies the Spanish Techno movement from the 90's.

Since he started producing, he has been able to release on major labels, such as Illegal Allien, getting co-signs through remixes by big names like Ricardo Garduno, Kessel or Mari Mattham. Rightly so, since Hektor has been producing for the past 14 years and has become a very technical and specialised producer, introducing very interesting modular sounds and hardware elements, among other key differentiating factors. Nevertheless, I might add that his influences go way beyond electronic music, having an interest in other genres like Hip-Hop and Rock, he has created a distinctive sound that makes his productions and sets one-of-a-kind rich musical experiences.

Hektor also runs two labels, namely "Metro Black Series" (@metroblackseries) and "Gordo Trax", two labels that belong to Metro Dance Club (Alicante) and Gordo Club (Valencia), respectively. As of today, Hektor is establishing himself in the Spanish underground electronic music scene and has had some fire releases on labels, such as Diffuse Reality, Sleaze Records, Gynoid LTD, UTCH Records, Subsist Records and Children of Tomorrow.

In this interview we get into his creative process, advice for younger artists, his upbringing in Spain, the Spanish Techno scene, hardware and his main influences.
