Nearly a year after releasing their critically-acclaimed SOLOW EP, Canadian live electronic three-piece Keys N Krates have emerged from the studio with their newest creation “Are We Faded.” Premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show on 8/8, the first single off their upcoming “Every Nite” EP” showcases the trio’s hallmark harmony between hip-hop, electronic and instrumentation. The track gives listeners a taste of Keys N Krates’ undeniable gumption for melding together saturated synthwork, ephemeral drum accents and pitchy vocal distortions begging the questions “are we faded?”

Razihel & Xilent - Edge of the World (feat. Becko)

From the darkest recesses of the drum & bass world, this LP sampler from Audio signifies the last step towards his debut LP on Ram Records. Already receiving support from the scene’s heaviest, including key influencers Noisia and Beats1 mogul Zane Lowe, this next release is the predecessor for an album set to make history.

First up, ‘Overdose’ sees Audio return to his brutish, rolling bassline slashed with gritty drum loops and underpinned by quaking subs. The master of dropping ominous samples into the mix, it propels deep into a murky conundrum of sound. Steroid driven kicks bloat out the already weighty composition, sliced with distorted, elevating beat patterns and bass to create an angry, sneering and unapologetic opener. This is Audio once again pushing through like a freight train… Unstoppable.  

Next up is the Mefjus rework of Audio’s signature Ram release ‘Ulton’. His production standards were already credited at this year’s Drum & Bass Arena Awards; it’s not surprise that Audio enlisted an artist who’s received recognition for spreading his signature sound across dance floors worldwide. Mefjus’ moulds the original around the unfaltering guns of his peddled drums and wavering bassline. Flicking the switch midway, you’re thrown head first into the techy soundscape the producer reigns over.

So once more we return to the cold, nefarious sounds of Audio a final time before his album is dropped on the Ram imprint. The dial is currently turned to full throttle and it’s easy to see why the anticipation has only been growing with the release of each single.

High Maintenance is back with the release of Soundwave Therapy, which features Kerizma MC.
After breaking onto the scene back on 2011, High Maintenance has kept his profile high with a string of releases on Shimon’s iconic label. From the smash through hit With You/Nowhere to the Never Enough EP, the DJ and producer is never far from the fire. As a selector, he has played across Panda D&B, D&BTV, Radio 1 and more, whilst his production ranges from soulful liquid to dancefloor danger, from straight up drum & bass to drumstep,dubstep and beyond. When it comes to music, there isn’t anything High Maintenance can’t do. Support has been constant and regular, with BBC Radio 1Xtra leading the charge.
Now, he teams up with the host from the South coast, Kerizma MC, on new single Soundwave Theory. The Brighton rhymer adds his distinctive flow to the track, adding layers of depth to the sound. From its electric, ominous opening notes, you know that Soundwave Theory is not one to be messed with. The music flows out, adding in some mythical sounds, before Kerizma comes in with some complex and memorable bars.
Pitching up, High Maintenance aims hard for the drop. Layers and effects resound, and soon you’ll have all the Therapy the doctor ordered. The main section hits you square, with bass coming to the forefront as the beat continues. Ready to destroy any dancefloor, this one carries the ethos and mindstate of AudioPorn into the future - music first and let the rest try their best.
High Maintenance brings things down nicely, taking his foot off the gas for just a second. Sawing guitars fill the void, as he draws back up slowly. The signal is then smashed through for the rest of the track, leaving you in no doubt - this one is going to be huge.

High Maintenance - Soundwave Therapy (ft. Kerizma mc)

Alongside the delicious aggressiveness that made Audio so renowned, his ‘Beastmode’ LP cracks him open like you’ve never heard him before. Fiercely powerful, yet intricately different, each cut from his debut album on the Ram Records imprint packs a very different punch whilst hitting with the same fierceness and wealth of talent. 

‘Beastmode’ reflects all his output to date. Whether it’s the old-school flavor of virus, or the steppy-unapologetic riddims he’s served up for Ram, this record won’t leave you questioning who rules supreme over the genre’s murkier waters. 

Whether it’s the half-time, two stepping ‘Move it Along’ or the pulsing, snarling undertones of ‘Thud’, you’re blessed with a barrage full of fresh sonic assaults. ‘Thunder Ridge’ serves as the perfect opener, a brand new record with synth-laddered foreboding intro which pushes you below the surf. Tinkling hi-hats and a distorted LFO adds shockwaves throughout the mix, submerging you even deeper. Urgent, pulsing and nastily crafted, this is Audio at his most fearsome. 

On the other hand, ‘Rogue’ presents a clanking, runaway riddim that snaps its teeth with every break. Stacked between ominous build ups and jaunty samples, the second drop flairs out as angrily as the first, demonstrating Audio’s ingenious sound design. 

And flipping the switch once again is ‘Sovereign’, a nod to the producer’s roots and a track that gradually builds its presence throughout. Between warbling stabs and peddled kick drum, you’re drawn by the aural nerves. Elevating beat patterns set you up for another descent into madness, through a stringently tight composition. 

Featuring artists, such as drum & bass heavyweight Prolix, also take center stage. Their collaboration ‘Creatures’, alongside the revered lyricist Nuklear MC, adds a welcomed surprise. ‘Creatures’ delivers everything you’d expect and more; steroid-pumped subs, the dark overture of Nuklear and apocalyptic atmospherics. 

Also featured on its weighty track listing are singles ‘Make it Happen’, ‘Overdose’, ‘Drop it Human’ and ‘Shatterdome’. They were a precursor for what was to come, which signified one of the darkest, most uncompromising productions yet on Ram Records… In all of its twenty five years of history.
