Up next on Arcing Seas is Magna Pia with his second EP after his 2016 debut “Incantations” on Counterchange. Behind the alias is Hüseyin Evirgen, one half of Cassegrain.

ARCS-05 has a clear focus of providing combative dance floor trips, unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references. The EP’s track titles “Artemisia”, “Semiramis” and “Akasha” pay tribute to three mighty ancient heroines of very different origins. Consequently, Magna Pia continues his interest in combining techno tracks with archaic symbolism.

Geneva’s Opuswerk provides the second release on newly launched techno label Bipolar Disorder, with remixes from Inland (@counterchange-inland) and Antigone (@antigone).
Having appeared on Semantica and ARTS, as well as Dement3d (as HISS:1292 alongside François X), Swiss producer Opuswerk is a formidable name within today’s techno scene and has received regular support from names such as Dr Rubinstein, Daniel Avery, DVS1, Anthony Parasole, Peter Van Hoesen and Donato Dozzy.

Joining the release on remix duties, Counterchange founder Ed Davenport adopts his Inland guise alongside a separate outing from Parisian techno stalwart Antigone to form a solid four track techno package.

Syncopated drums and a rumbling low-end introduce the murky sounding ‘Extensum’ as scintillating synths increasingly permeate the mix. Inland reimagines it, introducing his recognisable polished percussion and deep atmospheric nuances. ‘Spatium’ uses otherworldly melodies and ominous effects for a mesmerising aesthetic from start to finish until Antigone’s energetic reinterpretation twists and distorts the original to conclude the release in style.

Dold arrives on Blue Hour Music

The Swedish producer, real name Patrik Eriksson, will debut on Luke Standing’s Blue Hour Music outlet in early November this year - the first new artist to be invited onto the growing platform. 

In recent years, Standing has carefully expanded his label to include not only a vast catalogue of original music, but a high profile remix series - and more recently collaborative work as Tracing Xircles. 

Dold’s arrival marks the 11th release from the label, and the young Swedish talent - who runs his own imprint Arsenik alongside fellow producer Kuf, offers up a stunning collection of dance floor recordings that zero in perfectly on the label’s raison d’être. 

Express Route is the result of several weeks of close dialogue between artist & label - with the end product finalised alongside Standing in his Berlin studio. A captivating, Breakbeat driven exploration of retro-futuristic dance music, the recordings fit neatly into the label’s well defined aesthetic - paying homage to the rich lineage of pan-European dance music, whilst maintaining a sharp, contemporary edge. 

Opener Horizons sets the tone for the work, with emotive synth strings set amongst rolling sequences and high-energy drum programming, whilst Express Route is a perfect example of fast-forward loop Techno. Memories taps neatly into the producer’s penchant for Hardcore - riffing on vintage Rave stabs with a decidedly modern bent. Colliding Worlds ties up the EP, a glorious up-tempo nod to classic IDM & Electro. 

Mature and excellently produced, Dold’s arrival on Blue Hour Music marks a considerable step forward in the label’s development, a fine example of form & function that looks forward within the genre - whilst maintaining that particular approach to production that has bound the label’s discography so well thus far.

Slagmann, a new collaboration between producer Talismann and music ensemble Slagwerk Den Haag. For this live interpretation of their new album KRYSALIS, they join forces with visual artist Heleen Blanken. The outcome is an adventurous synthesis of hypnotizing rhythm patterns, organic soundscapes and captivating scenography – or, as the artists themselves like to call it, a “ritualistic experience.”

Slagmann is an initiative that arose from a shared curiosity for innovative sounds. Slagmann worked on this genre-crossing album. Talismann produced the album exploring the analogue set of instruments from Slagwerk Den Haag as a soundbank. Sometimes dreamy and dark, euphoric and explosive at other times, this mesmerizing cross-pollination between ritualistic percussion and drum machines will lure you into the murkiest depths of electronica and classical minimal music. The album has fourteen phases and will be releasedon Talismann Records.

For the visual identity of KRYSALIS and the scenography of the live show, Slagmann works together with visual artist Heleen Blanken. Fascinated by the perfection of nature, she has created a show where the chrysalis (the pop in which a caterpillar turns into a butterfly) becomes a symbol for transformation.

Blanken not only uses video images for her rhythmical light show, she also makes use of a hanging sculpture and NAP framework software that was especially designed for KRYSALIS. Together with the three musicians and their remarkable collection of percussive instruments the aim is to take the crowd along on a collective experience.

Concerns Music delivers a new EP from Argentinian duo LPP who have their music released on Illegal Alien, Newrhythmic, Concepto Hipnotico, ANAØH, amongst many others since 2016.

The Grey Scene EP continues their high standard of output with freaky productions that are a mental workout as well as ready to rattle a club soundsytem. Also contributing with two remixes to the package are Parisian Keikari alongside Fixeer from Mexico.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the “Stone Pillow” remix by Keikari who has recent appearances on Faut Section and EarToGround. A thumping kick and gritty bassline warms up the rework from the off, followed by an encroaching, analogue swell that forms a menacing atmosphere. Throw in some morphing acid tones and this brooding beast really does excite.
