It’s not every day you hear a finalist from The Voice mark the start of time-travelling drum & bass trip. Then again, DJ SS’s Formation is not your everyday label… 
The longest running imprint in drum & bass of all time, responsible for early releases from some of the most respected names in drum & bass such as G Dub, John B, Hazard, The Prototypes and Twisted Individual, Formation have consistently grafted at the future coalface – unearthing new artists, fusions, sounds and ideas. 
This incredible full-strength EP is no exception. A debut collaboration between influential label boss DJ SS and rising Bulgarian Formation family members High Roll, across the four tracks it’s a whirlwind ride through some of the genre’s most enduring and alluring sounds, shades, styles and eras. 
‘The Pursuit’ eases us in smoothly with a slinky fretless bassline, lilting pianos and cosmic aesthetics. Yearning, vocals from The Voice finalist Bizzi Dixon bring the groove together, flipping it from a lush liquid roller to an authentic and soul-arresting love song loaded with just the right amount of poignancy.
‘Next Step’ follows with the acidic taste of scorching contrast. A barnstormer banger with theatrical broadsword bass swathes on the riff and a visceral drum swagger, this is beyond peak time business that drives us deeper and deeper into the continuum until we hit ‘The Time Capsule’. Taking us past the point of no return, it’s an insane fast-lane weave of chapters nodding from jungle to tech-step via hardcore. Living up to its name with iced-out textures, intense aesthetic pressure, basslines that turn your gut in knots and diced breaks that formed our very foundations… It sets us up perfectly for the final chapter of this time-splicing document.
‘OldSkoolers’ is the ultimate crescendo. With its shapeshifting molten bass riff nodding to the late 90s, there’s a Moving Fusion-style warmth and hookiness that smacks of classic drum & bass rudiments. Heads-down all the way, watch out for low flying instrumental elements as the track drives you deeper and deeper into the mix. 
To appreciate the past, we must be bold enough to step into the future: Something SS has done his entire career. With High Roll and Bizzi Dixon on side, this truly is a one-way ticket in both directions. Enjoy the ride.

Dimo Panguelov (Mocks) and Martin Popov (Konspirator) are certainly among the most emblematic artists on the Bulgarian electronic scene. Then and there, at the dawn of this relatively young musical trend, the two of them take a firm stand among the front line of the Bulgarian organization for drum and bass culture - H.M.S.U. (in 2003 and 2005, respectively). Both of them are sworn admirers of the unconventional rhythm and, even though each of them follows a different path, they share a common addiction to music. With care and effort they find and attend all events in the subject area, and constantly enrich their musical horizons. Not long after, their mutual motivation towards progress in music unites them in a stormy tandem. Under the wings of H.M.S.U., the two artists are forever bound and devoted to the bass intensive vibes.

The climax of over 10 years of musical advance ripens into a logical subsequent step – the formation of the project High Roll. With this new initiative, the duo aims to present to the audience its own production and vision. Underlying is the production of quality author’s music, as well as the development of conceptual projects together with local and international artists. 
The DJ combo proves fruitful and, over the years, the duo performs on a stage together with top notch artists, such as Amon Tobin, Andy C, DJ Fresh, DJ Hype, DJ SS, Faith No More, Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Moby, Noisia, Pendulum, The Prodigy, Roni Size, Sigma, Wu-Tang Clan, Wilkinson and many more. They have encountered a rather notable amount of foreign and local artists, DJs and events. In this way, they gain numerous opportunities to cultivate their musical interests and attain a high and confident position, which very few artists from the region could reach.  

The boys are now exclusively signed for the legendary drum and bass label Formation Records.
With DJ SS's solid imprint, the duo released their debut EP called “It's You” in 2013, followed by the “Roots Sound” EP in 2014. Dimo and Martin have also released their third EP for the historic label in September 2015. “Acid Chain EP” is sure to rock dance floors worldwide and cement High Roll’s name as one of the most exciting acts in the label. The duo has also participated with several other tracks in different compilations released again for Formation Records. All of their tunes are difficult to define, in terms of genre, yet, teasing the ears with a tasteful mixture of drum and bass, jazz, dub and reggae themes.
