We are excited to announce the launch of our new White Label Series with who other than Lakim! We've been planning this series for some time now and are glad it is finally becoming a reality. Since Soulection is always finding new artists and sounds we wanted to really focus and simplify the music into a new platform. Every Soulection White Label project will consist of only 2-4 tracks and really highlight the true craftsmanship of each artist. Lakim is a perfect introduction for this launch. Stay tuned for his forthcoming release on Soulection coming out in early 2014!

Dear Dilla, you shaped my perception for music in ways I can't describe in words. Music has always touched my heart, but your music moved my soul. You had a gift of making the most creative music using samples from the most unlikely sources. I'll never understand why someone like you, who could have given the world so much more, would be taken way so soon. Dilla, you "literally" changed lives and you probably saved lives too, because when you make music "straight from the heart," it's not just music anymore.

You will always be my favorite musician of all time....

chuckee. (@orangesodabandit) aka Sean is an 18 year old residing in Dream Land, Texas (like the Kirby games). His style is sort of situational and emotional. "When I make lo-fi bumps I just kinda do whatever I feel and I like the way it sounds"

The inspiration for making Skylines came from having to scrap an entire album of "not-as-good" beats from his time with Ableton and starting fresh with FL Studio. Gaining inspiration by going outside and just enjoying all of what summer kinda meant, chuckee. ended up packing in all those vibes, feelings and sun rays into a few beats that resulted into something he really enjoyed.

I first heard the name in early 2006. Various playlists containing Lau's beats seemed to hit me all at once. A handful of UK DJs were speaking highly of this new up and comer. A beat tape circulating that was a must have. When I finally reached his MySpace, I understood what the hype was about. I heard some of the warmest and impressive productions, sounds and swing I hadn't heard since early Jay Dee or Soulquarian record. There was a fine balance of soul and hip-hop, while some tracks would shift to one side of the spectrum, they'd hit you just as hard. Many people can fuse the elements of soul and hip-hop together, but very few can do it right.

After sessions of MySpace messages, transfers of beat tapes, I was an avid fan and believer in his music. A year had passed when Lau told me he was finally ready to drop an LP. Passing this news on, it wasn't more than a month later that he got a deal. His debut "New Territories" was released on Ubiquity Records in 2008. A solid introduction with productions I'd known him for. Creating this record, Lau also introduce his impressive A&R skills, showcasing some of the finest vocalists in London with Rahel, Tawiah, Sarina Leah and Meshach Brown. All who could easily shine on a solo release.

We're currenlty witnessing the makings of one of our finest producers, someone on the same playing field as a 9th Wonder or Just Blaze, who could produce for a marquee hip-hop act, the underground, while also serving beats for Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu. I have no doubt in my mind that this should and will happen.
