In early 2017, Amani Friend re-envisioned selections from his rich Liquid Bloom catalog to deliver new downtempo compositions into a contemporary electronic space. Subsequent to that Re.Generations release, Canadian producer ATYYA selected seven of the album's tracks to put his own spin on them.

Crafting whole new worlds around Liquid Bloom collaborators Poranguí, Deya Dova, Ixchel Prisma, Numatik, Rara Avis, and more, Tyy Clark generously imbues his signature tribal tonic into these works, for a mysterious and pulsing fresh spin on these re-imaginings -- one that balances the lightness of Amani Friend's remixes with an intriguing, contrasting darkness.

Here is a beautiful new tune which came into being quite spontaneously like a flash of noetic lightning in the wake of some beautifully serene experiences in Seattle and the Cascade mountains.

It was a lot of fun and a real honor to feature vocal contributions from my friends Theo and Amma (Entheo - https://soundcloud.com/entheo), as well as Theo's guitar and a few percussive samples from my friend Jules O'Keefe.

I haven't given out a new free track in a while, and I think this is a breakthrough and a new direction for me, so I am going out on a limb and allowing this tune to spread how it may, in good faith that it will touch as many lives as possible.

Thousand Hands of God (feat. Entheo)

The chorus of this song is sung by Tzutu Kan (a balam ajpu member), one of the teachers at Solar Sound, who is an indigenous Tz’utujil Mayan hip hop artist from Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. In the song, he is saying the names of all the indigenous tribes of Costa Rica, to call them in, honor them, thank them, and connect with them:

Tzutu’s Verse: Chorotegas Cabécares, Bribris, Ngäbe, Térrabas, Borucas, Huetares, Malekus, Kin siq'ij li a b'i iwonojel.

We have decided that all funds raised from the sales of this song will go to Tzutu’s non-profit organization which teaches music, art, and language revitalization to indigenous Mayan children in his homeland.  


A note on the School of Mayan Hip Hop:
“Within the “Caza Ajaw.” School, elements of Hip Hop are reconfigured to create
alignment between Hip-Hop culture and Mayan culture. Caza Ajaw teaches Hip-Hop as
having three elements (Rap, Painting and Music) corresponding to the three stones
traditionally used to make a hearth (or xkub’) in Mayan culture. The use of the xkub’
hearthstones recontextualizes the elements of Hip-Hop from a specifically Maya
perspective. The songs taught in the school reflect the goals of language revitalization within the Maya Movement – encouraging children to use the language among themselves, the use of
Mayan languages in new domains, and an emphasis on the connection between language
use and cultural knowledge.”
