Making its annual pilgrimage to the Dutch music capital, Mango Alley provides a virtual tour of sonic highlights that represent the global gathering of Amsterdam Dance Event. Another year of isolation and restricted contact culminates a sonic congregation that showcases emerging and established talents in a melting pot of creativity. Pulsating beats criss-cross the Amsterdam waterways where musical works of art provide a new beginning for autumn's artistic centre.

Roaring to life as knight and day collide in an explosion of sound and colour, a new nirvana emerges. The stars shimmer over the Melkweg and rippling arpeggios take Shelter on the north side before analogue synth motifs find a sweet spot in the Sugarfactory. Imperceptible melodies fade away on the still night air, anchored to their rhythmic foundations that are infused with history and aural narrative.

With the "Osmosis" EP lighting up the GMJ and Matter firmament in June 2017, Proton Music saw yet another example of Australian skill and craft. As we now return to the EP, "11 Moons" receives a pair of new remixes, courtesy of talented British and Polish producers.

Dan Baseley is a man whose career path has risen steeply in the underground dance scene. Through his Orsen production moniker, the British born artist has hit upon a unique and highly sought-after sound that has reverberated across the underground fraternity. Now based in his adopted Austrian home, Orsen's work, since a September 2014 debut for Optimized Recordings, has continued to find him at the vanguard of the progressive house scene. Moreover, work for Cid Inc.'s hugely respected Replug Records, saw four tracks of the highest order released in September 2017, in "Through the Woods". The "Komorebi" EP for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat in January 2016, plus work for Perspectives Digital and Particles, have shown Orsen at the top of his game with the "Elysium" EP for the latter proving a focal point for the label in June 2015. Now, returning to Proton Music after a trio of remixes and a June 2017 reworking of Roger Martinez, Orsen takes on GMJ and Matter with considerable aplomb. A beautifully constructed percussive groove lays the foundations for a wonderfully warm bass line to flow forth as textured pads gently pulse adding further depth. The melodies so central to the original make their presence felt in gated glory with both rhythm and melody working in perfect harmony to create a unique new take on "11 Moons".

Using their Cream and Deep For production soubriquets to great effect, Krzysztof Kupczakiewicz and Krzysztof Kotlinski have been involved in the music scene for a number of years. Both successful DJs and producers in their own rights with performances across their Polish homeland, the duo have collaborated on a host of tracks, providing themselves with over a century of production credits. Regulars on such impressive imprints as Soundteller Records, Electronic Tree and Particles, Cream and Deep Fog's work for the latter has seen a clutch of original and remix work, not least in the four-track "Neverland" EP in August 2015. High profile remixes of Andre Sobota and Kastis Torrau and Donatello have further raised the Polish duo to the upper echelons of the underground progressive house scene. As they now make their Proton Music debut, the Cream and Deep Fog remix is a deliciously driving offering that evolves elegantly with its club-friendly beat and head-shaking percussive groove. Evolving elegantly over the eight-and-a-half-minute voyage, a wonderful bassline progression adds interest as richly textured pads create depth, before a shimmering motif creates a new melodic direction. Intelligently using GMJ and Matter's original components to great effect, a raft of additional production material has added a new dimension to the Australian pair's work.

Remixes from Orsen and Cream and Deep Fog have seen GMJ and Matter continue to shoot for the stars with "11 Moons".

Roger Martinez's Higher States imprint continues a strong start to their journey by welcoming GMJ to the label for his debut EP. Based in Melbourne, Australia GMJ aka Gavin Martin has been a primary figure in the progressive house scene for over a decade. His passion for deep and emotive electronic music has seen him land releases on the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music to Cid Inc’s Replug Records and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, it's GMJ's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning fans. Now following an EP for US conglomerate Proton Music, GMJ debuts on Higher States with the much anticipated 'Enter Universe' artist showcase.

Spread across three tracks it's the warm, redolent grooves of the title selection which gets the release underway. The seven minute journey effortlessly melds organic percussion, arcane atmospheres and hazy harmonic concepts, for what results in a travelogue of mystical audio. Delicate yet powerful it perfectly sets the stage for the peak time flavoured 'Multiverse'. It's astral designs and percussion cadence prove instantly compelling, while a foundation of pulsating beats and electric rhythms continues to drive momentum forward. A cascading motif sits at the spiritual core of the piece, evocative and fluid, gently elevating mood with each successive pass, until elegantly peaking during a poignant final act. Rounding out the collection is the mid tempo 'Niloquai'. Highly creative, it's blend of clustered vocal fragments, spatial arps and textural drifts makes for an enticing storyboard, all playing out over waves of contoured bass and striking tonal design. Reflective in mood it caps off what is an impassioned collection of music from GMJ, one which sees him raise the bar once again and continue what has been an inspired year for the Australian producer.
