Lisa von Mond's "Lovely Planet" emerged from a swarm of dub synths, pop chords, and atmospheric dust.
Wherever Lisa got lost in the past, she found herself in any gap of organic and synthetic, fiction and what is called reality. Collecting story fragments of a somewhat anti-social butterfly and cyberpunk, she assembled them into a sonic patchwork, and this EP was born - two cozy chillout tracks, served with randomized sound layers, while making no essential difference between field recordings and presets.

This month we present to you the first release from the newly formed dream team, which goes by the name of WeLoveYou. The name says it all and we also fell in love with the track immediately when we heard the first few seconds of it.

In the original called “Hanabi”, a rolling bass line pairs with pushing synth sounds and is rounded off by a variety of different style elements. To complete the release, our favorite homies Pulli & Chomba and our long-term companion Katabtu gave the original its own coat of paint.

The works were mastered by our trusted engineer Haunted Water and the as always brilliant artwork was contributed by Kilian Van de Water. Enjoy listening, we love you.

Baikal Nomads drops a deep and soothing organic house EP by Volzigt which also features remixes from Thommie G and Goro (NL).

Volzigt is a Dutch artist from Amsterdam who is a founding member of the city’s underground music venue Club Escargot, which is famed for being the home of Holland’s downtempo scene. His style is a fusion of ethereal synths, uplifting melodies and flowing percussion. Along with being a talented DJ, Volzigt has also released stunning tracks and remixes on labels ranging from Shango Records to his own Obscure Records, and this is his second time working with Baikal Nomads.

On remix duty, Goro (NL) is a Dutch artist who has close ties to Volzigt through being a resident at his Obscure events. He is also a respected producer whose enchanting style fuses trippy atmospherics with rhythmic percussion that creates captivating grooves focused at the dance floor. He has previously featured on Baikal Nomads along with other record labels such as Cafe De Anatolia, MONADA and Kosa.

Thommie G is a Dutch artist living in the city of Haarlem, and he is a Baikal Nomads regular who has an entrancing style of organic house, which can also be found on other scene leading record labels such as Sol Selectas, Magician On Duty, and Camel Riders.

“Blistered Paw” is the first of the two originals and it has psychedelic guitar chords fused with spine-tingling atmospheric synths and a thickset bassline. The track has a haunting vibe with intricate sound design.

Second of the original tracks is, “Pablo's” and it’s got a chugging groove with a pulsating bassline and angelic pads that are carried forth by a plodding kick drum and shuffling hi-hats. Its mesmerising atmosphere is both epic and immersive.
 
Goro (NL)’s remix of Blistered Paw is a hallucinatory version which adds additional atmospherics to create a spellbinding rework. Thommie G lifts the energy with his up-tempo remix of Blistered Paw which works in extra percussion and a new bassline.

Conceived over 6 years ago as primarily acoustic sound-journeys, Belgian artist Peter Klank went through many iterations, slowly adding and layering the foundational concepts with analog hardware, effects and acoustic instrumentation. The result is two ultra deep and entrancing tracks that merge the best qualities of both disciplines. Tribal rhythms meet soaring atmospherics, ethereal pads behind acid patterns and mouth harp, each instrument applied in the most complimentary manner for an endlessly captivating listening experience.
On remix request, Daniel Imhof translates Muladhara into a slow swaying masterpiece with equal parts groove and space. Inspired by the many cohesive fusions, Nathan Hall turns up the tempo to transform Air into a deep and driving trip.

What if you were forced to spend your life on a mostly deserted island in the middle of the ocean? In such a thought experiment, hundreds of impressions come to mind. How would I obtain water and food? Are there wild or dangerous animals on the island, and would I be able to produce or find the necessary tools? Alongside these existential issues, questions about social connections and interactions also come up. Are there other individuals on the island, and if so, would they be friendly towards me? Considering it as a long-term situation, such an island life would likely be challenging to sustain. However, as a short break from everyday life … Nusa by Tim Tenhoff and Ru Yan reminds us of a long-gone and more emotional era of electronic music. The track awakens the desire for a white sandy beach and a starry night. Sipping an ice-cold cocktail at the bar while listening to the waves crashing. A deep conversation and a tear on the cheek perfectly complete the scenario as we walk arm in arm back to our bungalow.

We are happy to present you our latest Afterhour Sounds compilation. After almost a year it was about time to publish a new, in-house release. Our goal with each compilation is to share our understanding of an afterhour with you.

An afterhour has always been something special. An episode of rest and yet also of departure. Always individually different and yet somehow categorically the same. This is exactly the spirit we try to musically depict with each of our compilations.
Finally, this time we have also included exciting downtempo, midtempo and uptempo tracks. Each track is completely different in terms of mood and energy, but due to their atmosphere and playfulness, they fit perfectly into every (afterhour) playlist. Surely there is something for each of you.
