After the sad news of Proket's passing a few weeks back, it was time to do a special and dig up all the Proket and Prode tunes in my collection from the golden 2006-2007 era. You ain't ready for this mix, if I have to describe it in one word, it's "uncompromising", and not for the faint of heart! I've added a lot of fitting tracks by Masheen as well, plus other contemporary Offkey releases and two legendary Stakka & Skynet tracks that so much fit the theme. It's a vinyl mix with some hard to mix tunes so it isn't perfect, but definitely very enjoyable if you're into this 2006-2007 era sound!!

Next show will be digital, but only in four weeks time on Tuesday March 19th, so I'll be skipping an edition in between due to travel. Heavyweight trio Travesty returns to Tytanium Armour Recordings with two refreshed versions of dark and dirty back catalogue cuts. Characterised by a sound influenced by countless sources but nevertheless dominated with grit and groove, Travesty have found a home for their neurofunk-oriented releases on Tytanium Armour Recordings. Geographical proximity and a shared musical palette shaped by the darkside sounds from the early ‘00s ensure that the artist and label work together in synergy, resulting in a release which pays homage to the foundational sounds of contemporary drum and bass with all the edge you would expect from a 2024 production. 

Opening with an updated version of their 2018 neuro stepper Enclosed, Travesty instantly demonstrates their ability to straddle the boundary between the musical past, present, and future. Travesty substitutes a distorted reese bass from the original track with a more resonant bass reminiscent of Optical’s output from the late ‘90s and early ‘00s whilst still preserving the bassline’s melodic progression and skippy drum pattern of the original track, injecting a fresh boost of energy into an already monstrous tune. 

Techstep veteran Skru graces Tytanium Armour Recordings with a remix of Containment for the second and final track of the release. Heavily distorted reeses and thunderous amens come courtesy of the artist who has secured releases on labels as legendary as Tech Itch, Renegade Hardware, and Serial Killaz. Here, the language of fast breaks and deep basslines spoken by techstep ensures that the relationship between jungle and drum and bass is as visible as ever.

Biography:
Dj Elwira has ‘shaken hands’ with drum‘n’bass and jungle somewhere in 1999 when she came along the record of Skynet and Stakka.
She soon realized that she will not feel satisfied only in role of a listener. At the break-through of 2001/02 she gets her own turntables and starts to play.
Since 2003 she regularly performs at the dnb events all over Czech Republic and Slovakia. She played in Austria, Germany and Slovenia too.
She supported all the well known Czech and Slovak djs and to name from foreign stars: Raiden, Teebee, Muffler, Gridlok, Audio, Temper D,
