Championed by everyone from Annie Mac to DJ Yoda, Kormac started out as out as a hip-hop scratch DJ and MPC beat-maker.

He has matured into an artist who brings a totally unique approach to, what might be called, hip hop by twisting and morphing his meticulous recordings of acoustic instruments into something entirely unique.

While making his last album, he literally showed up on the doorsteps of legendary author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize Winner, Speech Debelle, Texan legend, Micah P. Hinson and a host of others to collaborate and produce a record that sounds like nothing else.

He’s equally well known for his live performances. Sometimes he performs with a full ensemble, Kormac’s Big Band (brass, strings, drums, electronics, bass, guitar and guest vocalists.) For club shows, he brings his studio set up, a drummer and a massive LED wall showing bespoke visuals for alternative takes on his own material.

The world has taken notice. His last album got him nominated for the Meteor choice music prize. He’s played festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Sonar and toured the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia and Canada alongside luminaries Portishead, Nas, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Snarky Puppy and a host of others. 

Recent TV appearances include a wonderful gig in St. James’ Church in Kerry for the iconic Other Voices show, a performance on Ireland’s prime time, Late Late Show and live broadcasts on WDR in Germany.

His records are sold out. He has tens of millions of Spotify plays. His music is used on TV and ads frequently and his material is regularly played on radio worldwide. Recently, Jameson commissioned him to make a track using only the sounds made in/by their factory in Co. Cork.

His latest single ‘I Believe’, was released on April 28th and received a phenomenal reaction when showcased in The Sugar Club, Dublin on April 30th. Having recorded some of the clips in a church for Gospel authenticity, the track holds true to the ‘sound of Kormac’. 

’I Believe’ is a whopping track that features the foundations of Kormac’s established sound of jazz and gospel samples.  Keep your eyes peeled for the official music video coming soon.

From east Austin, Melogrand was formed by three former members of art-pop group The Story Of. A long time friend from Ohio moved from California to fill their sound. Through their love of melody and sonic expansion, the psych-pop sound of Melogrand began to emerge. 

In the spring of 2010, Melogrand recorded a two-song 7" at Jim Eno's Public Hi-Fi with engineer Matt Colecchi, releasing 100 hand-printed albums and playing only a handful of shows.

When it came time to record their full length, they decided to woodshed in their east Austin studio. When recording at Public Hi-Fi, the 7" was tracked with minimal overdubs right to tape, committing to decisions on the fly. While on the east side, they took the polar opposite approach; tracking layers upon layers, making a lush soundscape of reverberated vocals and room-filled tracks. After capturing the principle rhythm tracks with Mike & Brian, Alex & David took a journey into the abyss of tonal and melodic landscapes, meticulously striving to capture an essence trail blazed by Alex's demos. Between long tracking sessions, discussions about Wall Street bankers and the nature of consciousness filled the air on their front porch, finding it's way into the lyrical content of the album. 

After 13 months of recording, mixing, [re]crafting and overdubbing, the album began to find the delicate cohesion they were striving to acquire. Once the mix was complete, the tracks were sent to John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone to undergo the alchemical process of transmuting the layers of ones and zeros into electrical current, finally capturing the music to tape as magnetic waves. 

Their music blends a mix of pop sensibility, psych-laden landscapes with touches of electro-pop.

Melogrand released their debut LP, Waves for the Ages on 2.21.2012.
