Hailing from the Spanish mainland is a sound that’s resonating globally thanks to a select choice of producers that have been able to create their own path after years of honest and competent work.

 A notable character from that sub-culture of game changers is Marc Martinez Nadal, aka AFFKT, who consecrated a music career and has been a driving force behind a vivid & empowering sound that is refined by his drive for perfection. 

He feels in deeply in communion with sounds that range from the most energetic hyper-glossy techno to the most detailed and innovative indie-electronica. 


Having worked on coining the sound of this alias since 2008, it has been a plethora of sound, place, person & culture that has provided a platform for AFFKT to experiment with his output. Serving huge electronic crossover masterpieces that derive into the many sub-genres of music via key imprints such as Pets recordings, Multinotes, Mobilee, Last Night On Earth, Disco Halal, Needwant, Exploited or Culprit and his very own Sincopat label, and expressing versatility digging deep into his influences of sounds by delivering heart-stopping, engaging techno on the likes of Octopus, Noir Music, Suara… AFFKT is committed to a life of synthesis and this is what sets him apart from a comparatively shallow glance at dance music.

Within its versatility is that of working with other musicians. As a result, the fantastic teamwork was generated with the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sutja Gutierrez. This synergy can be discovered in their just amazing live performances.
Once described as a “Son of a Thousand Sounds’ – precisely the title he chose for his second and highly acclaimed, even award-winning LP released n 2016-, AFFKT is in constant evolution in his career where he has surpassed expectations and enjoyed praise from his peers. His latest “The Big Picture” 13-track LP on Mobilee or the mind-bending remix done for GusGus’ “Simple Tuesday”, are just another huge proofs of all that.  Weighty new remarkable evidence of his talent, creativity and open-mindedness. 

Actually, sonically speaking “The Big Picture” is probably his most expansive and multifaceted electronic-driven long-play to date. AFFKT’s carefully constructed retro-futuristic electronica definitely suggests the quaint and unique forms of body music bringing ties with rock, pop and certainly more organic sounds. He perfectly manages to thrill us as well as taps into our very core. AFFKT music can be enjoyed while dancing, as well as serving as emotional therapy.

Having initially forecast his production energy into his own Tartan imprint, Wallace’s music quickly developed a cultish following among record collectors and influential DJs including Gilles Peterson, Optimo, Hunee and Ryan Elliott. Another supporter has been CWPT’s founder Palms Trax, who, following releases on Studio Barnhus and Rhythm Section, snatches four highly sought-after tracks for the seventh release on the label, each showcasing Wallace’s inimitable and enviable skills as an engineer and a willingness to stoke the sort of organic euphoria that DJs dream of igniting.

Amongst the curios, rarities and other finds that have peppered Palms Trax’s sets this past summer, it’s title track ‘Willow’ that has levitated entire club and festival dance floors like few others. Escalating from a disco percussion loop, ‘Willow’ soon brings on high-energy melodies and a captivating sense of something more ethereal, seemingly reinvigorating old tricks with exciting new flavours: if you only raise your hands to one climactic snare roll this year, we ask you to make it this one.

This refreshing intersection between flourish and function is felt even more heavily on ‘Breathe’, a contemporary electronic battle weapon whose breaks-and-bassline arrangement fluctuates between weightless wonder and heavy business. Frontloaded with the detail and atmosphere of a vintage Chems or Leftfield cut, 'Breathe' exhales then explodes all the skill and reverie of the most memorable 90s techno.

Wallace appears to dip into the chillout room for the swampy rhythm of ‘Masada’, before proving his slow-motion mettle, a Sergeant Peppering of psychedelia creating true hedonistic density and groove. In conclusion and on the contrary, ‘River Dancers’ maintains subtle hypnosis at a similar pace with much less, employing simple timbres and a stuttering, innocent vocal inflection to conjure wide-eyed whimsy far downstream from the EP’s earlier, maximal wonders.

And oh dear… We caught him in an extraordinarily randy mood for his 4th outing on our prestigious Speicher series. “Acid Call” is a positively rude high energy funk beast, ready to take dancehalls of any size or color to pieces. The enigmatic @ashee_music comes back to Life and Death with two electrifying peak time anthems. 

‘Frisbee’ is a dazzling tribute to Italo-disco and the unapologetic lead synth melodies of 80s dance music. Its hypnotic hook, reminiscent of "I Feel Love," dances up and down the scales, weaving seamlessly with a rumbling garage-style reese bass. The result is an unexpected and thrilling cocktail designed to act on dancefloors like gas and fire.

The bold "Fortuna" blends a monstrous 90s hip-hop-inspired bassline with a chaotic frenzy of layered percussion. The result is an unclassifiable carnival-like banger—perfect for massive sound systems, wild street parties, chaotic street parties, and clearly designed to be played way too loud. 

Ashee’s sound pulls no punches. Eschewing subtlety for raw impact, it’s music that slams into you and doesn’t look back. With a punk ethos at its core, Ashee fuses sinister 90s techno grit, euphoric rave highs, and chest-thumping garage basslines—like the growl of a souped-up Vauxhall Corsa tearing through the night past neon-lit kebab shops.

The Soulful Techno king Gabriel Ananda makes his Truesoul debut with a re-master of his 2006 classic ‘Doppelwhipper’. The package also comes with two brand new remixes from Drumcode favourite Marco Faraone and the hotly tipped Layton Giordani. 

The EP opens with Marco Faraone’s remix, which samples Kings of Tomorrow’s ‘KOT Anthem (Soul Vision Remix)’. This takes ‘Doppelwhipper’ to dizzy new heights, keeping the obscure roots of the track and adding a rolling bass line that will bring any dancefloor to sheer hysteria. Next up is a re-master of Ananda’s seminal ‘Doppelwhipper’, a track which has well and truly stood the test of time. A connoisseur of the uncommon, his curious sounds float through almost 10 minutes of pure hedonism. Closing out the package is Layton Giordani’s interpretation of the track that is set to be a firm club favourite. Pounding through the gears, this one will do some real damage.

Time for a little neck bulging, slimy skin hip-slinking summer fun as a true craftsman steps from the studio shadows: Jay Shepheard, who’s back with a track that’s so infectious if you licked its back you’d trip for weeks.
Prepare yourselves for ‘Bullfrogging’: wry funk, warmth and humanised technoid soul. Taking a vocal texture then processing, harmonising and splicing the spawn out of it, Jay’s precision balance of electronic hustle and anthromorphised action has all the hallmarks for a summer anthem.
‘Early Doors’ follows suit and there’s a massive clue in the title… Soft-focused, warm, rolling and laced with textured chimes, it’s definitely tailored for those key transitions between warm-up and second gear. Deep, trippy but coded with a hookiness that grabs rather than soothes, once again it’s classic Shepheard but with a revitalised 2017 twist. Hey, he didn’t lock himself away in the studio for twelve months for nothing, right?
Neither did Jay’s long-time friend and neighbour Mark Henning; a man who hasn’t taken on a remix since the early 2010s. His return to the remix game is as poignant and powerful as Jay’s return to releases as he removes around 70 percent of the frog and maximises the bullishness of the elements, creating a relentless tribal slammer of a version that still retains the warmth and soul of Jay’s original.
Two returns to action, three killer tracks, one label you can always count on as your friend and no frogs harmed during the whole process. We’re pulling out some serious stops here.
