Formed in 2009 in Fremantle Western Australia the Suntones are a four piece country/blues roots based band currently playing in and around Perth WA. The line-up is Steve Smith acoustic guitar/mandolin/vocals, Jeff Barham - Acoustic/Electric guitar, mandolin, Dobro and vocals, Chris Harwood -Acoustic upright bass/vocals, Andrew Smith - drums.

The Suntones play a wide range of songs including country influenced originals and roots based covers that appeal to a diverse audience. The band is equally comfortable playing unplugged or in the electrified format. Our influences include The Dingoes, Steve Earle, Paul Kelly, Carl Perkins, JJ Cale, Lucinda Williams and Little Feat.

The Suntones completed a successful tours of the 2012 and 2013 Tamworth Country Music Festivals where they impressed audiences with their catchy originals and quirky covers. At Tamworth in 2013 they showcased their new EP “Down the Line” which was produced by golden guitar winner James Gillard.

Both of The Suntones EPS “Down the Line” (2013) and “In the Valley” (2012) contain songs penned by band members Steve Smith and Jeff Barham. On the “Down the Line” EP the song writing team was joined by songwriters James Gillard and Shanley Del.

Live “The Suntones” give a tongue in cheek but well-honed performance with the emphasis on fun. You can purchase both of the Suntones EPs at gigs or from popular online music stores.
