Okay, this is a complicated one...
Back in 2006, Plushgrizzly from Aykaism.ch (now defunct) invited Jon H from Fort Knox Five to play a gig in Switzerland. He recorded the whole evening for a later broadcast on our common radiostation bigbeat.ch (now defunct). I'm not sure, we did ever play it, though... Not even sure if it was ever published in any way.
15 years later, I found this gem on my harddrive and played it during two episodes of my radioshow Eclectix, airing every Sunday, 6pm (cet), on evosonic.de.
First, I didn't want to upload it since I didn't know if it's okay with his friends and family over in DC, but after being asked by FK5 to upload it somewhere public, so they can share it with the world, I guess it is okay... ;)

For those not in the know: Jon H was 1/4 of Fort Knox Five, who died 6 years ago way to early in August 2015. He was an inspiration for way more people all around the world, than he could ever think of and I'm one of them. Thank you, Jon, for everything.

The Crossway sessions 004 - Joe Revell

Plasmodium started out in 2004 as a weekly 4-hour internet radio show broadcasted live from Oseao in Seattle, WA, with residents Kristina Childs, DJ Saigon, Miss Kick (aka Red Pony), DJ Veins (aka Dave Segal), Paul Edwards and Brandy Westmore. It featured many styles of electronic music as well as artist and label features, interviews and special in-studio live performances. When Oseao changed it’s business plan from internet broadcaster to aggregator/distributor, Plasmodium Radio had to find a new home. Fast-forward to September 2009: Plasmodium Radio v3 with a new format, new delivery method and new content-driven website. Ta-Da!

I wish I had such a challenge like this more often… I tried to sum up everything I am into this mix: besides crafting a musical travel from 85 BPM to 130 BPM, through building up a curve of cumbia, glitch, ghetto, funk, nu-soul, nu-funk and breaks, I put a little bit of everything I’m usually entertaining my crowd with; like live-looping, fader-cutting, beat-stopping, echo-coloring, fake-scratching, groove-rolling, cue points-juggling and.. er, beat-mixing… :) I have recorded this mix on Technics turntables and Pioneer DJM-700 mixer, using Rane Serato SL2 and Korg’s Nano Pad. If you want me to perform this very set or any of the musical section extended during your shows, feel free to book me - I’m spinning 5-6 hours just like that! Yet, mostly importantly, if you dig the music of this mix, then go support the independent musicians and producers of it, to help us grow music families like Fort Knox, so that we all can keep on delivering you the good music!

Remember when going out used to be fun? Do you prefer dancing to posing? Does your idea of dressing to impress have nothing to do with designer labels and everything to do with finding a gorilla costume in the perfect shade of purple? Bored of identikit ‘edgy’ nights called Fraktion, Elastik, and other ironically misspelled words? Well despair no more because THE HONG KONG PING PONG CLUB is here to restore your faith in the weekends!

During the late 00’s in the farthest flung reaches of the South West a group of friends were brought together by a mutual love of good music. With roots in Funk, Hip Hop, Big Beat and Breaks they had a no holds barred attitude
to their tune selection, playing a multi genre smorgasbord each bringing their own flavour to the mix.

Refusing to be pigeonholed and taking inspiration from nights like ‘The Heavenly Social’ and ‘The Big Beat Boutique’ ‘The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club’ was conceived. They rapidly gained a loyal party loving following at their spiritual home and residency ‘The Watermans’ in Falmouth and were soon playing host to the great and good within the scene.

Thrusting themselves in to the limelight with the infamous ‘Mixtape’ series the next logical step was to take the show on the road and bookings for booths in clubs and stages in fields quickly followed.

They have become a main stay at Shindig Festival, Shambala, Leopallooza and The Great Estate and have recently started to once again promote their own night’s back in Falmouth at The Underland Bar.

They love The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club and if you are inclined to dance like a drunken-hands-in-the-air Viking to bootie shakingly good music you’ll like it too!
