‘For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Music is an anchor in life, useable in any if not every scenario to shift or change your current mood. It's something that you have complete control of (unless you’re in someone else’s car), this control, I find is somewhat taken for granted every now and then and I think in this strange time of our lives it's very important to take control of what you can. Speaking of control, it's something our next guest has mastered, A Naarm favourite Bex. 

Hard work, dedication, and a belief in one's self are the holy trinity to the path of evolution, All of these factors Bex has mastered. Through years and years of commitment to her craft, Bex has steeled herself amongst her peers and their dance floors, forever increasing her orbit and her listeners inside of it. Encompassing the pure aesthetics of Dj’ing (an understanding of rhythm and how people react to it), she has cemented herself as a staple DJ all across Naarm as well pushing the same ethos with her own party series “Spincycle” (HOT TIP!!). She’s here to stay and it fills me with confidence for the future. 

The mix itself beautifully encompasses the very thing I’ve set out to explore, the other side. For someone who is consistently filling dance floors, you can tell Bex has done herself justice in reaching into her musical peripherals and wholeheartedly enjoyed doing it. Ecstatic trips into euphoria electronica, A consistent theme explored in its whole, done masterfully. Computer-generated soul at its finest, using BPM as a narrative tool, she takes us on a trip through her own mind, leaving no stone unturned. After countless play-throughs, I still find little details that excite me, her technical skills on full display for the world to see. A perfect summary of Bex herself. Enjoy it every way you can.

ASIP is the acronym and DJ name of Ryan Griffin, founder of the A Strangely Isolated Place label and the 9128.live collective listening radio station. Founded in 2008 as a blog, A Strangely Isolated Place has now come to be described as a record label for ‘Ambient adjacent' music and this ethos can be heard as a source of inspiration within many of ASIP’s DJ sets. A Strangely Isolated Place also plays host to the long running isolated mix series, with DJ’ing being a primary source of driving creativity and inspiration for ASIP.

Often choosing to focus on strict concepts that highlight various angles of the music he enjoys, ASIP has gone so far as to reinterpret the KLF's Chill Out, cut-up classic Trance Loops, and depict the three stages of sleeping within his previous mixes online. However, ASIP live DJ sets are often more free-flowing; traversing many styles, and focus on the attentive side of Ambient music: lean-in, emphasizing narrative, versus the background music you come to expect with Ambient. 

Founded in the UK, but since relocating to the USA in 2013, ASIP and the label HQ can now be found hiding in Los Angeles.

@Moopie joins us for the mix series this week. Beijing-born, Melbourne-based, the A Colourful Storm label founder and NTS Radio resident has fast become one of dance music's most hotly tipped DJ's. Recent b2b's with the likes of Helena Hauff and Ben UFO attest to his serious pedigree. For DIM 296, we find Moopie in groovy form, running an array of lush house and breaks over 65-minutes.

Live at Moniker '22 - Bex

When Leah from 2bscene hit us up to come play at sugar in Adelaide, the last thing we would have ever thought is that it would be the last set ever in the club. We found out the night before that sugar would be shutting its doors for good after the weekend - what an honour to shut down such an institution and give that condesa one last workout for the good people of South Australia. This set was recorded between the hours of 1-5am. Thanks to Leah for having us down <3 RIP sugs 2002-2025
