We've all been in a room with no way out. Wether it be in relationships or falling back into bad habits. This room is Luke's room and you have the key.

This is a single from my debut album ‘Who do you want to be, L.A.Byrne?’

‘Who do you want to be?’ - What a question. Throughout our lives it appears again and again. It is both a question we ask ourselves and one that is asked by others. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer and do we ever really know? In this debut album I have put forward this question to my best friend and vocalist Luke, L.A. Byrne.

Together, we explore Luke’s life over the past three years, with the pressure of turning 30, causing a mixture of angst, uncertainty, and a feeling of failure. With moving to Denmark pre-Brexit, he finds himself stuck in limbo, with a clouded sense of belonging and identity. We reflect on his relationships back home in Yorkshire and how they intertwine with his life and relationships here in Denmark.



In my home studio in Copenhagen’s northern district, Nørrebro, we spent 18 months mapping out this period of Luke’s life, listening to a mixture of Motown, House, hiphop and RnB - the record definitely nods to all these genres. We spent many nights in smokey Bodega’s, imagining what this record could be, and more often than not, the headaches from the night before shaped what the record became.

This is a multi-genre record that acknowledges music from both the past and today. Driven by the Korg minilogue synthesiser, soul samples and a TR-8 drum machine, I tried to encapsulate everything that has inspired us to make music. You could call it a modern interpretation of the past, with nostalgia echoing through the music, Luke’s life and my own.

NEON AFTERIMAGE drifts through a quiet neon city just before sunrise. Blending ambient synthwave textures, psychedelic electronic atmosphere, and cinematic melancholy, the track captures the moment when the night begins to dissolve into morning.

Warm analog pads, deep bass undertones, and gentle delayed electric guitar float through a haze of vintage digital synths and minimal percussion. A smoky, airy vocal glides over the soundscape like a fading signal across empty streets and glowing wires.

Inspired by retro cyberpunk anime aesthetics and late-night urban solitude, the music feels like the ending scene of a forgotten 90s OVA—rain on pavement, neon signs flickering out, and the sky slowly turning blue.

NEON AFTERIMAGE is a soundtrack for quiet cities, drifting thoughts, and the last electric dream before daylight.
