Following the recent release of his 'Kili EP', enjoy a recording of Romain Garcia's set, recorded live from Splendor at Anjunadeep Explorations 2023 in Dhërmi, Albania.

Following title track ‘Kili’ premiering on label compilation Anjunadeep 14 earlier this year, French artists Romain Garcia and Douran release the three-track ‘Kili EP’. The EP is the sum of the pair’s artistic and cinematic influences, culminating in three driving anthems that are a masterclass in emotionally-charged melodic house.

The EP is Romain Garcia’s third with Anjunadeep, following his previous two releases, ‘Everybody Dreams’ and ‘Before You Go’, which have, together, clocked up nearly two million streams. Garcia collaborated with Ben Böhmer on their track ‘Cappadocia’, released on Cercle Records, and has garnered support from a wide range of tastemakers such as Pete Tong, Hernán Cattáneo and LP Giobbi. Romain has recently played at the stunning Pic Du Midi Observatory in the French Pyrenees, and will complete a six-stop North American tour this September, with dates in Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Montréal and Toronto.

A versatile musician and composer, Douran has released his own complex and classically-inspired productions on Anjunadeep and ambient sister label Reflections, as well as remixing William Orbit’s acclaimed ‘Starbeam’. The live act and producer has also been supported by publications such as Clash and Decoded.

OCULA has quite rapidly become one of the premiere names in house music. After a rapid rise to prominence with back-to-back releases on deadmau5’s epochal label mau5trap, the Staffordshire, UK native has quickly made a mark with his blend of moving, organic melodic house. He draws inspiration from the iconic soundscapes and sonic innovations of Jon Hopkins and the crisp, melodic nostalgia of deadmau5, amongst others. His intimately addictive sound quickly became a mainstay at Lane 8’s imprint This Never Happened. Official remixes for Gabriel and Dresden, Le Youth and Lane 8 himself are amongst the many staples of OCULA’s expansive discography, which includes showcases on iconic labels Future Classic, Anjunabeats and Colorize. 

His signature sound is underpinned by dancefloor-staple synthwork but there’s so much more to his work than meets the ear. His artistic maturity shines through his songwriting - showcasing distinctively organic inspirations and a warm, skilful style. He embraces glorious textural expanses and a personal, soulful touch – demonstrated with class and efficacy on his viral “Summit” EP in 2020. 

He crafts a captivating mix of lush soundscapes and intricately woven melodies, with a discography that shows an emotional depth that is distinctive amongst his contemporaries. From jubilant to melancholic, brooding to hopeful, OCULA’s brand of emotive alchemy has earned him widespread acclaim across the world of dance music. Above and Beyond, Camelphat and Radio 1's Phil Taggart are amongst the plethora of icons to have thrown their weight behind OCULA, and his name has been popping up on tentative touring schedules rapidly. Expect to see plenty of OCULA in 2021, as he continues to entrance electronic enthusiasts with his sharp, spectacular musical touch.
