A release that is called after the goddess of Babylon Ishtar, is one that instantly grabs our attention. Add to that fact that this compilation has been curated by a close family member of ours. The talented musician that goes by the name "Goro". And we have a winner. In comes the compilation by Orientaldeep that is altruistically set up to help refugees that have been struck extra hard due to the pandemic.

Orientaldeep: "As many of you may know loving and caring for one another is something we stand by and is something much needed in these trying times. If this year has been hard on anyone it is those who unfortunately became a refugee. That is why we have decided to support those in need. Because there is very little we can individually do, our common goal is to raise money for various charities, so they can do the work we can not.

Because music has the ability to cheer up, heal and connect those who listen to it, it is music through which we hope to help. In the past few months we have started collaborations with 13 artists. Every single one of them has made a masterpiece for us to put together into an album named “Ishtar”. This album is to celebrate the good things, heal and give hope to those who need it."

PREMIERE: Wassim Younes - Narración

Folklore is one of the fundamentals that defines us as human beings. Therefore, @meraque is intrigued by bringing traditional musical elements from different cultures together.

During a trip, they came across the track “Hûli”, composed by Aroma (IND). Inspired by the eponymous, indigenous tribe of Papua New Guinea, he created tribal hypnotic grooves and tropical style soundscapes.

Mèraque flavored their remix with lyrical melodies of clarinet and saxophone. Simultaneously, the oud hovers around in oriental pentatonic patterns. Driving rhythms of the darbuka make the exotic danceable vibe complete.

The track is part of the album Tropical Bangers IV, released in March 2021, by Ohxalá Records, Portugal.

For the imprints 40th release, LNDKHN look once again to Argentinian duo Kermesse, offering up a stellar selection of original works that come packaged alongside a trio of remixes from the likes of Alejandro Mosso, Frivolous and label head Landikhan.

The title track ’Space & Time’ leads the way, easing you in with a shuffling downtempo groove, enchanting vocals and repetitive melodic patterns. Frivolous’ take follows, adding an extra bit of punch to the bass line and tighter percussive elements, combing to create the first of the premium reworks.

Landikhan strips it back even further, focussing on chugging hi hats and warped synth pads that dance from left to right within your mind.

Kermesse welcome Arkadyan for ‘Hologram’ - a track that showcases the versatility of all involved. Acoustic licks carry you throughout, fading away momentarily for the presence of reverb saturated horns, sitting ever so delicately above the groove ridden foundations.

Closing the show is Alejandro Mosso who remixes ‘Hologram’ into a truly mesmerising journey, progressing effortlessly throughout as he welcomes gritty synth chords, eerie top line elements and a vast selection of worldwide percussive sounds.
