Presenting their second release of the year, Just Movement opens the summer season by welcoming Zone + to the label for his debut single. Bahrain born Dubai based producer Zone + aka Zeyad Mohsen has been a fixture of the deep house community for the better part of a decade. Having firmly established himself with a resonate worldly sound and releases via All Day I Dream, Akbal Music, Hoomidaas and Sol Selectas; Zone + now sits as one of organic music’s elite talents. Also, a consummate DJ, Zone + has taken his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills to some of the world’s premiere clubs and festivals, playing alongside Behrouz, Guy Mantzur, Lee Burridge, Rodriguez Jr., YokoO and more. Now, in a year that has seen Zone + feature on Tim Green’s recent Balance compilation, he continues to impress with his Just Movement debut ‘Labyrinth’, alongside a remix from Hermanez.

With a whimsical flair, it is the original mix which leads the release off. Warm, voluptuous basslines lay the foundation for spirited vocal elements and panoramic arps to work their magic. Driving percussive arrangements maintain an energetic cadence, while timely chord changes and placid pads move from esoteric to emotive leading into the break. Masterfully constructed, the interlude delights with its buoyant rhythmic themes, eventually melting down to calming percussive rides, perfectly setting the course for a groovy finale.

The release concludes with Hermanez making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Labyrinth’. Hailing from Belgium, Hermanez brings an inventive approach to his brand of electronic composition. Throughout his varied discography, he touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling a divide between intergalactic design and organic-inspired beats, resulting in one amorphous sound of his own. Initially known for his timeless, tech-soul productions on Mobilee Records, Noir Music and Suara, the Genk resident has enjoyed a career renaissance across the last half decade, remodelling his sound with deeper, more musical and delightfully organic leanings. It’s a shift that has propelled him into one of the genre’s elite talents, in turn landing him projects via All Day I Dream, Bedrock, Lost & Found, Souksonic and TRYBESof. Now, fresh off an EP for YokoO’s SATYA imprint, Hermanez makes his Just Movement debut with a spiritual take on ‘Labyrinth’. While maintaining the glowing spirit of the original, the Belgian artist crafts a sweeping sonic experience all his own, a transcendent journey into an organic hinterland, where fragmented vocals, warm synth phrasing and charming effects surface from their exotic architecture, onwards to a finale of balmy grooves and haunting overlays.

Clubsonica Records welcomes Giovanny Aparicio back to the label for a new EP. Hailing from Colombia, he has emerged from his country's electronic music culture with a fresh organic sound. His club-focused productions have found a home on trend-setting imprints such as Abracadabra Music, Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas and Sol Selectas, while world class DJs Blond:ish, Armen Miran, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sabo and more have been steadfast with support. Now, returning to the label for his first artist EP, Giovanny caps off a great year with ‘Eric | Azul Profundo', alongside remixes from Kamilo Sanclemente, Maze 28 and Weird Sounding Dude.

Giovanny continues to find a perfect balance between progressive and organic house with the lead selection ‘Eric'. A DJ friendly intro sets a solemn mood with rejuvenating atmospheres and wispy effects blanketing tough beats and chunky basslines. Exotic drums and metallic motifs add a splash of rhythm and colour to what is a mature club-effective arrangement, perfectly leading to a celestial sounding break, complete with operatic pads and cinematic refrains which carry the journey onwards to a spiritual finale. The companion piece ‘Azul Profundo' has been much sought after since first being aired by Above & Beyond's Tony McGuinnness in the summer of 2021. Clocking in at nearly nine minutes in length, Giovanny's creative prowess shines once again as he crafts an organic piece that is rich with rhythm, groove and atmosphere. A cross-cultural lead sits at the core of the track, flowing through misty refrains and carnival-inspired rhythms, before giving way to an enlightening finale that's sure to leave a lasting memory on the dancefloor.

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Eric' is Kamilo Sanclemente. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Kamilo has earned the praise of electronic tastemakers Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music via All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, The Soundgarden, Replug and more. 2023 has been highlighted by Kamilo's most recent Clubsonica project entitled ‘Stellar Echoes', a three-track showcase which commemorated the label's one hundredth release in fine style. With more of a progressive state of mind, the Cali resident utilizes the main elements to resounding effect, adding his own musical charm and freeform instrumentation, with the end result being a transcendent journey that finds Kamilo at his creative best.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation ‘Azul Profundo' is Maze 28. Hailing from Albania, Mario Zefi aka Maze 28 has emerged as one of his country's most hotly tipped progressive house artists. In just three short years the Durres resident has earned support from Dosem, Nick Muir, Paul Van Dyk, and more. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, Maze 28 aims squarely at a peak-hour dancefloor, taking the track into progressive minded territory. Complete with infectious drive and haunting atmospheres throughout, it's a storyboard of capsizing grooves and mesmerizing synth progressions which make for an exhilarating sonic experience.

The release concludes with Weird Sounding Dude for the second and final interpretation of ‘Azul Profundo'. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat. Drawing inspiration from the original, the Bangalore resident layers exotic percussive arrangements and arcane electronics atop punchy beats and chunky grooves. Mysterious and thought-provoking throughout, it's a heady amalgamation of sound which makes for a club-effective yet uniquely atmospheric journey, elegantly flowing through trippy melodic clusters and wintry overlays, before a refined take on the lead and a desert-tinged break sparks an immense finale.

Stuttgart local Johannes Brecht has been a regular on Poker Flat Recordings for a few years, and has also released tracks on labels such as Hamburg’s Diynamic Music. Here, he returns to Steve Bug’s iconic label with EAR - two tracks of slick, powerful Minimal / Deep Tech. State of Consciousness is a sleek and slippery affair - locking into a nagging, hypnotic groove early on before Brecht lays on the vibes with some wonky piano and synths. Endangered Audio Research, from where the release gets its acronym, is a beautifully constructed slice of electronic dance music, with cascading keys and a bubbling, modular motif.
The slightly overdriven synths give Brecht’s tracks a raw, gritty feel that really hits home.
