Voyeur make a return to Madhouse Records this April with the ‘Tonight’ EP, comprising four original compositions from the rising duo.

Benson Herbert & Leo Picking aka Voyeur stepped onto the scene in 2012 with their ‘Blame It On The Youth’ EP, released through Kerri Chandler’s then fledgling MadTech imprint, the New Jersey legend has mentored the duo ever since shifting them onto parent label Madhouse with the ‘Rain Away’ EP and featuring a Voyeur remix of his and Jerome Sydenham’s ‘Mama’ on his Watergate compilation.
Here we see the pair return to Madhouse with their soul-infused sound that’s seen them pick up support from the likes of Norm Talley, Nicholas and John Daly.

Title cut ‘Tonight’ kicks off the release and sees Voyeur offer up a classically sample based cut, fusing an array of chopped up snippets with loose organic rhythms and ethereal synth flourishes running alongside analogue bass licks and hypnotic vocal murmurs. ‘Don’t Lie To Me’ retains a similar aesthetic with dusty drum sounds running alongside lavish piano, horn and vocal hooks.

Entering the latter half of the release we have ‘Why’ which takes on a jazz-infused house feel, employing infectious guitar riffs, fluttering Rhodes lines and a bumpy rhythmic swing. Closer ‘Philae & Rosetta’ then rounds off this classy collection on a deeper tip with sparse understated rhythms while an underlying blues vibe adds a smooth and smoky feel to things.

Voyeur’s ‘Tonight’ EP is out on Madhouse Records 16th March (Vinyl) and 6th April 2015.

Proper paradise disco vibes on this summer treasure by Frikardo. This vinyl only release comes with the original version and two smoothing remixes by Loz Goddard and X Gets the Crest. Out on the Architects of Paradise label / network / creative collective.

Frikardo, a small producer with big ambitions.

Born in 1989 Frikardo wasn’t always the dab hand at producing he is now. He began his journey in 2004 creating Hip-Hop beats and soon after he started to experiment with multiple genres including Drum and Bass and of course the House music that we know and love.

Coming from Subotic in Serbia, Frikardo’s music has been inspired by different decades. The 60’s, 70’s and 80’s all play integral roles in his tracks providing the inspiration for his discography across all genres. Creatively chopping and sampling different tracks gives Frikardo’s music a unique sound that samples Jazz, Funk and Disco. Frikardo said he’s ‘’a big fan of French and Detroit house, it’s one reason why I began to produce house music’’, and with accolades from producers such as Fouk, Lars Behrenroth and Michel de Hey to name a few, it’s a good job he did.

Having previously featured on Episode 13 of our Paradise Podcast it only feels right to bring him on board for his latest EP release which is a limited edition vinyl release, featuring two tracks by Frikardo himself and remixes by Loz Goddard and X Gets the Crest.
