We are happy to present to you THDS, a Portuguese-Belgian artist, a very talented multi-instrumentalist, sound explorer and music producer linking folklore and electronic beats in a very natural and special way you’ll discover today…
Made in Brussels, this EP tells above all a story of friendship, after long nights out dancing or one of those cozy “aperos”, they started crafting music and sound textures together : one more proof that music truly brings people together.

¨Esperando¨ is a colorful proposal, full of soul and sounds of the earth, all of them combined in a very pristine way to achieve a very well rounded and technically accomplished EP, where each song is a journey through the world of folklore melodies.

Apart from the 3 original tracks, the 3 remixers Mcfly, Hajna, Slowlane respect the joyful and mystical spirit of the EP, bringing movement and a new palette of sound colors that make this release shine even more.

The electronic musician and Poker Flat founder’s contemplative new stu-dio album takes in minimal house music, moody techno and effervescent breaks across 11 unique tracks.

Acclaimed producer, DJ, label owner and musical pioneer Steve Bug’s influence on the musical landscape is, at this stage in his career, well documented. With roots in Germany’s legendary club scene and fans around the world thanks to his enviable catalogue of releases, the influence of his label Poker Flat, and his famously exemplary DJ sets, Steve is a singular artist with a lucid and passionate approach to his craft.

His previous LP Paradise Sold alongside Langenberg was released in 2018 to critical acclaim, and described as “elegantly euphoric” by Mixmag. Never Ending Winding Roads is an entirely solo release however, with much of it produced during the months of enforced isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many of the track titles reflect Steve’s headspace during this time, with themes of solitude, contemplation and reflection brought to the fore perhaps more than with any of his previous work.

Steve’s formative musical years were spent during Germany’s techno and acid house heyday, with his love for a perfect groove as apparent now as it was back then. His DJ skills and a keen, innovative ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but instead towards a fresher, hybrid sound–merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno and electronic music: a strand of music he fiercely champions to this day.

Steve Bug: “My mindset when making Never Ending Winding Roads was completely different to any other project I have embarked on. I didn’t have to tour, and instead could focus 100% on writing music without having the dancefloor as a constant influence. This allowed me creative freedom to explore a range of styles and emotions, and as a result, it is the album I feel most satisfied with to date”.
With 11 brand new tracks, Never Ending Winding Roads is a meticulously produced and deeply engaging electronic album; one that explores various shades of house, techno and broken beat with Steve’s celebrated attention to detail and consummate originality.
Album opener Lucid Loops perfectly sets the tone, immediately ensnaring you with a hypnotic, undulating synth line and a faintly menacing undertone thanks to hushed, discordant strings and unnerving vocal stabs. This atmosphere of quiet paranoia permeates many of the tracks on Never Ending Winding Roads, most explicitly in the sinewy groove and sketchy, panic-inducing synth line of Locked Away In My Head.

This album more than perhaps any other in his career sees Steve experi- menting with broken beats, to incredible effect. Tracks like A Conscious Machine and Electro Harmonix are melodic, emotionally rich cuts: burst of radiant optimism that juxtapose beautifully with the album’s darker moments.
Elsewhere tracks like Yellow Snake find Steve exploring deep, dubby territory, while album closer Upon Mountains is a cosmic, arpeggiated masterpiece: an 8bit computer game soundtrack reimagined as a poignant electro ballad.

Last summer Sol Selectas collaborated with Shambhala Music Festival in Canada to offer a remix competition for KLMN's song "Sabilu feat Mian". The winner was released in the fall of last year, and shot to the top of the charts. This EP is a collection of three other remix submissions from that contest, that we also think are winners.  Each one transforms the original in a unique amazing way.  Bernstein's deep melodic "Love Layer Remix" takes us to another dimension entirely, while Animal Treats delivers a gorgeous funky breaks interpretation. Estray takes us into deep tribal territory, and as an added bonus, KMLN offers their own Rework making the original more club-friendly. The artwork by Helia Jamali captures the feminine energy and message of love in "Sabilu", represented here by the deep red orange Indonesian flower with goddesses dancing around its essence.

“The Smooth Gardens” is a sensual and groovy track from the brother duo Parallells and Joe Finch in which they combine many instruments and organic sounds to Thomas from Parallells' crooner voice.

The EP refers to The Gardens of Babylon movement in Amsterdam, who redefined the music and event experience. It is a family where all of the EP’s artists are part of.

The inspiration also came during Amsterdam Dance Event. A week filled with musical influences. In that sense, The Smooth Gardens is a hymn to dance, where the smooth groove of the track is slowly reaching parts of your body and is leading them to move, sway and dance.
The EP includes two powerful remixes. The first one is from the couple duo KMLN bringing a rhythmical edge to it. The second one is from Noraj Cue and Unders bringing a powerful clubby vibe. No doubt both versions will shake the dance floors!

Sowohl Coming Home als auch Miss the Light beziehen ihre emotionale Anziehungskraft aus selbstversunkenen Melodien und gehauchtem Gesang, im ersten Fall männlich, im zweiten weiblich. Wer nach einer etwas zackigeren Einsatzmöglichkeit für Coming Home sucht, wird mit dem angehousten Remix von Derun fündig. In the well-developed world of Downbeat, Bummelzug:Acht takes a different track. It leads us away from the usual routes into a soundscape full of picturesque panoramas that rise from the depths of a lucid dream. It feels very much like the walk-in version of a surreal painting. Both Coming Home and Miss the Light draw their subtle catchiness from mellow melodies and soft vocal parts, in one case a male, in the other a female one. If you’re looking for a somewhat more driving version of Coming Home, you’ll dig the housey uplift of the Derun remix. And if you’re into playful Downbeat grooves with a rhythmic soul, the Ahmet Atakan version delivers the goods.
