I am very happy about the collaboration with Iranian internet radio Beshknow. I got to know them because they played a number of releases that were put out on raster media, including my last LP, Applied Autonomy.  I asked them if they would be interested in broadcasting a mix of nature, water and glaciers as reference points. And I also asked if there are glaciers in Iran and if it would be possible to get sound from them. I am overjoyed that the members of Beshknow Radio took on the adventure of a five-hour journey to Kholeno Mountain despite the tense pandemic situation in Iran. The photos they sent me illustrate the dramatic situation of the local glaciers. I am also very grateful that an artist I admire very much, Teho Teardo, has contributed an exclusive piece to the mix.  While searching for suitable pieces, I came across an unreleased piece in my archives that my former band to rococo red composed for the exhibition New Ocean by American artist Doug Aitken at the Serpentine Gallery in London. Three pieces of the mix are of course from the book / CD release Glacier Music II, a collaboration of the Goethe Institute Georgia and the label Establishment.Towards the Glacier is from the first Glacier Music CD, it is a collaboration with Kyrgyz master Askat Jetigen. For the first time Beshknow Radio will collaborate with USMARADIO Interdepartmental Research Centre for Radiophonic Studies / San Marino for this broadcast.

Phonons (@phonons-net) is an organization dedicated to dub, deep and hypnotic sounds. Runned by Phil Gray-Lopez and Nems-B since 2011, Phonons has been cultivating since 2011 a refined cosmic aesthetics through a small series of events in south of France and a subtly curated podcast series. 

Like us, Phil Gray-Lopez (@subrealist64) is a marine world aficionado : whale tail sculpturer and surfboard designer in the daily life, Phil is an artist at the broad sense of the term. Inspired by the roots of techno music and polyrhythmics structures, he is used to add live elements into his hybrid Dj sets. In charge of the first half of this mix (until 43’), Phil included some scientific recordings of fish communication sounds into his set. 

Second part of the podcast is the work of Nems-B (@nemsb). Acknowledged by his peers of the deep techno scene for his outstanding mixing techniques, Nahim has played in major places such as Tresor and the mighty Paral.lel Festival in Spain. As a producer, he released on Oslated, Geometrika FM and On Board Music.

For their contribution to our series, the two Phonons active members choose to explore the imaginary of the massive coral reef discovered in November 2021 off Tahiti. Nearly stretching two miles long and 200 feet wide, this is one of the most extensive healthy coral reefs on record. Found in pristine condition in the ocean's twilight zone feet below the surface - whereas coral normally needs sunlight and shallow warmth to thrive - these rose corals represent a highly unusual treasure of life. "We know the surface of the moon better than the deep ocean. Only 20% of the entire seabed has been mapped” admitted UNESCO after this discovery. Let’s discover about the soundtrack of this mysterious submarine environment could sound like.

Before the Tul prayer begins, it is customary to give free rein to violence, shouts, loud and tense music, worshippers letting themselves go and objects being shattered.

This precipitates a particular psychological state that could be likened to deep relaxation: the opening of the inner listening.

The sermon that follows, different each time, revolves around the articulation of apparent contradictions in a style similar to our Taoism. Thus, in the recording we offer you, the first aphorism recites:  

"Supreme peace appears as violence".

This part of the celebration is traditionally accompanied by complex rhythmic music. Each worshipper is invited to dance to the rhythm they perceive, slow for some, fast for others, the whole swirl being considered as supreme harmony, everyone's part of the same ensemble but in a way that is unique to each individual.
