In this chapter we met Vardae, our beloved Cedric, who suddenly became a great friend due to his curious, interesting and pretty personality.

Vardae (@vardaemusic) is a project with the ambition of breaking away from the genre barrier, to explore new sounds territory around the love of psychedelic music. His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass. Vardae defends a universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey to each of its appearances.

"I'm transported back to that day as I drove my van down from the Alpujarras to Granada. Views of the sea from the high mountains. Curves and deep rhythms and hypnotic beats coming from the speakers. A journey to Granada that I never wanted to end."

Influenced by sounds such as bebop or progressive psychedelic rock and focused on experimental and ambient music rather than clubbing in his beginnings, Pharma (@pharmahplc) later delved into the deep and immersive sound, creating an amalgam that has been interconnecting through the passage of time to finally take shape into both listening and clubbing sets with a specific musical discourse in each context, connected with common elements, where the density between light and shadow promotes a mental activity that prevails over physical activity. He is currently focused on Masa Series (@masaseries), a label he co-runs which is related to the different subgenres of electronic music since 2020.

Campos de Marte Especial Festival MOSTRA ♥ FW 23/24

Estás escuchando Campos de Marte en Radio Relativa y yo soy Josephine Soundscapes.

Este es un proyecto radiofónico dedicado a la investigación y el disfrute musical a partes iguales. 

Desde hace años vengo creando este espacio centrado en la experimentación musical desde diferentes puntos de vista, a través de monográficos, de entrevistas o Dj sets y también de programas especiales como este que estás escuchando, dedicado íntegramente  al festival MOSTRA, que celebrará su tercera edición entre los próximos 28 y 31 de marzo, en Barcelona.

Acompáñame en esta escucha donde a través de las narraciones de los protagonistas del festival: el público, los artistas y también gente de la organización, profundizamos en el evento y damos las claves de por qué este festival pequeño y novel, es una alternativa más que interesante para un público amante de la música, pues en él confluyen experimentación, fiesta y compromiso, creando un espacio temporal único. 

Escucharemos también tracks de algunos de los artistas que tocarán en directo, tales como Javier Marimón, Rrose, Azu Tiwaline, Vardae, nara is neus, Kato De Vidts feat. J. Noon, Konsudd o hems.

"Truly, I feel privileged to have been able to craft a sonic space for Temple. And to have done it with the volume so high and with such equipment. Over two (strange) (eclectic) (kitschy) hours, I simulated being a sensitive algorithm, choosing only and exclusively songs that once moved me and that, far from their real labels, have always been in the same drawer. A personal Moebius strip, as a good friend said after the set. It seems that if you close your eyes and let yourself be carried away, genres merge and disappear: only the emotion and commitment remain. Endless thanks (still today and always) to those who trusted me and to those who came to let themselves go. Long live Temple."

이 세트는 Ab Uno (Eugenio Petrarca - Roberto Di Ciaccio)가 지난 2년 동안 런던과 베를린을 오가며 녹음한 여러 스튜디오 세션을 재구성하고 결합한 결과물로, 일체형 드론과 모듈러 멜로디 시퀀스를 혼합한 그들이 앰비언트/드론 음악에 접근하는 방식을 포괄적으로 드러내는 작품입니다. 수많은 사운드 레이어로 이루어진 이 작품은 기이한 분위기의 몰입형 내러티브를 담아내고 있으며, 청취자를 현실과 환상 사이의 사색으로 가득 찬 새로운 공간으로 안내하고 있습니다.

This material is the result of reshaping and combining several studio sessions originally recorded by Ab Uno (Eugenio Petrarca - Roberto Di Ciaccio) over the past two years between London and Berlin. It blends monolithic drones with modular melodic sequences to comprehensively reveal their approach to ambient/drone music. Comprising a variety of sound passages, the piece is an immersive narrative with an eerie atmosphere, guiding the listener through a journey full of suggestions and contemplations, carving a liminal space between reality and a hallucinatory otherness.

She is currently a resident DJ at Atdge Seoul and also a member of the party and podcast label Peaking Too Early.

Haemi Park 은 미니멀 기반의 음악을 플레이하는 디제이다. 음악을 타고 형성되는 특유의 기류를 퍼뜨리는 그루브를 지향하며, 그것을 통해 플로어에 매력있고 묘한 무드를 만들어간다.

현재 이태원의 클럽 Atdge Seoul 의 레지던트 DJ이며, 파티 및 팟캐스트 레이블 Peaking Too Early 의 멤버로도 활동 중이다.

Our mid-week listening session comes courtesy of multi-disciplinary Japanese artist, Makiko Iwaki, under her DJ alias, Iwamaki.

Aside from gracing the world with beautifully woven, introspective DJ sets, she performs live, and produces stunning drone and deep techno sounds under her alias, Menou. Having performed live at Barcelona’s Mostra festival, and releasing music on a string of labels, such as Orbitando, Initiate, and Accents, Iwamaki’s journey as an artist is one to keep your eyes on.

This mix is a live DJ set, recorded just three-weeks ago from MIMINOIMI at Polaris Tokyo, where she layered many sounds, and a unique fusion was born in that very moment.
