Got into DJ'ing in the early half of the 80's.Originally i started off off life as a breakdancer but was also  drawn to the scratching element of the music.So,as one did back then,i cut out a slipmatt from an old pillow case and got to work on an Amstrad stack system.I couldn't use the volume control so had to use the function button to cut the sound.This gave it an Eric B style scratch,messy but it did a job.It didn't take long for the turntable to eventually die on me so i used anything that played records until i finally got my 1210's in the early 90's.
I'd constantly be chucking out mix tapes but unfortunately living where i did the want for hip hop wasn't there so i moved onto the club circuit.
I did that for a good few years but got bored as the crowd then was only into what was in the charts and i liked breaking new stuff so eventually i knocked it on the head and only did the occasional house party.
Many years later,by chance,i bumped into an old friend who told me about some software he used to mix on.I got it and started putting some mixes together.This was all cool but i got bored quickly just blending one track into another every 5 minutes or so so started doing mash up mixes.I figured if i was using a program to mix then don't do what i could do on my turntables.
I know many DJ's don't class this art of mixing as real DJ'ing and of course they are right but i use my many years experience as a DJ to make these mixes work.
I've had many mixes played on The Streetsounds radio show with Morgan khan and also been lucky enough to be asked to mix up some albums(turning them into minimixes for promotional purposes).
My preference is old school but i do mix modern music also,basically,if i like it i'll mix it.
If there are any record labels or artists out there wanting to put out a megamix type album then(or minimix) inbox me.If i can work with it i will work with it.

Dr Packer is an alias of West Australian Drum & Bass DJ/Producer 'Greg Packer' set up for Remixes & Edits of mainly retro music such as 70's , 80's , 90's Soul , Disco , Funk , Hip Hop & Reggae , Greg although known more for 'Liquid Drum & Bass' regularly plays sets of 'Old School Funk , Disco , Hip Hop Etc' purchasing his first record in 1982 at the age of 10 'Grandmaster Flash - The Message' 

Moving on to the 90's shortly after emigrating to 'Perth Western Australia' greg purchased his first pair of decks in 1989 making this year his 28th year behind the decks , in 1991 he won the WA DMC's and defended the title in 1992 but by this time greg preferred Club Dj-ing and longer sets rather than a 5 minute scratch battle routine... 

Greg then moved onto 'Jungle & Drum & Bass' music in the early 90s and often regarded as a pioneer of that sound in Australia winning many awards and went semi global touring (UK , Europe , Asia , New Zealand & Australia) 

In 1998 Greg took up production and set up his own studio running his own label 'Interphase Music' He produced over 100 tracks & remixes under the name 'Greg Packer' and was signed to many other labels in the UK & USA including LTJ Bukem's  'Good Looking Records'

By 2013 greg began mixing entire sets from CD therefore searching for music online , he started picking up re-edits and he loved the way the original songs were beefed up and sounded fat on a club system but the original vibe was still there , these edits were quantised perfectly meaning you were able to beat mix them flawlessly unlike playing the original vinyl... 

In August 2013 Greg Produced his first two edits under the name 'Dr Packer'  which has caught the attention of labels such as 'Defected / Glitterbox , Z Records , Disco Dat , Hot Digits , Masterworks Music & Midnight Riot' resulting in a number one chart position for every EP release so far on the 'Juno Download sales chart' 

2015 saw 'Dr Packer' take the number one spot on the 'Traxsource Best Nu-Disco Producer' and number 5 for 2016 , he has had the opportunity to officially remix music by artists such as 'Bootsy Collins' and 'Robert Owens' and attack the back catalogs of Simon Dunmore's Defetced label and Joey Negro's 'Z Recordings' 

2016 saw Dr Packer break out globally behind the decks in places such as 'London , Ibiza , Croatia , Scotland ,  Denmark , Germany , Singapore , Bali , Abu Dhabi & all over Australia' playing alongside some heavyweights such as 'Dimitri From Paris , Joey Negro , John Morales , Greg Wilson , LNTG ,  Basement Jaxx , Crazy P , Sonny Fodera ,  Jazzi B (Soul II Soul) Faze Action'

Kurtis Mantronik is universally considered to be one of the most iconic and inspirational DJ, producer, artist and musician of our time. 

One of the most influential Hip Hop producers of the 1980s, Kurtis Mantronik returned in the mid-'90s with a solo career, fitting in well with the legion of big beat artists/producers he had inspired and spawned several hits as an artist, producer and remixer, that continued well into the noughties. In many ways, Kurtis Mantronik is the sonic godfather of much of what has gone on in Hip Hop in the last few years, such as the use of 808 drum sounds to create moody music meant to transcend the genre. 

As the founder member and leader of ‘Mantronix’, Kurtis produced numerous Hip Hop and Electro Funk classics, including "Bassline”, "Ladies", "King of the Beats”, "Take Your Time”, “Simple Simon”, “Scream”, “Who Is It?”, “Needle To The Groove”, “Fresh Is The Word” and “Got To Have Your Love”. Mantronix underwent several genre changes from its original, heavily synthesized old school Hip Hop and Electro-Funk to House music.

Kurtis was one of the pioneers and creative geniuses of drum machine-based Hip Hop, using his Roland 808 to produce ground-breaking hardcore Rap records for T La Rock and Just-Ice (cited as the start of Gangster Rap), at the same time he was making his mark on Electro, Freestyle and later, House. Kurtis produced one of freestyle’s most seminal tracks, in Joyce Sims’ “(You Are My) All And All”, as well as Joyce’s other international hit, “Come Into My Life”. “(You Are My) All And All” was the first song to feature (808) hi-hat triplets sequenced on a drum machine. Does that make Kurtis ‘King of the Beats’ Mantronik the true pioneer of the Trap genre? It also deserves a mention that T La Rock’s “Bass Machine” was pivotal to the development of another Southern-based club sound, Miami Bass.

As well as his own projects, Kurtis produced and remixed tracks for Kylie Minogue, Junior Senior, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Victoria Beckham, Michael Gray, Liberty X (which covered Mantronix's "Got To Have Your Love"), Mim (the featured vocalist on Mantronik's 2003 EP release “How Did You Know”) and the global hit Kurtis Mantronik Presents Chamonix "How Did You Know (77 Strings)". Kurtis remixed classical composer Steve Reich's “Drumming” and was enlisted for two remixes of the title track of the Shirley Bassey remix album “Diamonds are Forever”. 

In addition to record production, Kurtis produced music for the ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ and ‘TrickStyle’ video game series.

Kurtis has been back in studio recording new tracks for his eagerly awaited EP entitled “Journey To Utopia”. “Journey To Utopia” is an innovative, dynamic and exciting sonic experience! All of the tracks on the EP will be DJ (continuous) mixed. “Journey To Utopia” will be available to buy on iTunes, Amazon and Beatport from 20th October 2015 and will also available on Limited Edition CD (with bonus tracks not available to download).
