Our mix series is back with an hour of heavy industrial slammers courtesy of Skoden! Skoden is a rising force in the English techno scene and he has been gaining significant interest from the likes of Rebekah, Sara Landry, and CLTX. 

"Ryan Robinson is a techno producer/DJ and founder of “YAWA records” from Birmingham, UK. Ryan, who also goes by the name Skoden in the music industry, loves creating hard and industrial style tracks through his label.

It was in 2014 when Skoden discovered the world of electronic dance music and techno. It made him change his perception of music. It was like love at first sight; it made Ryan figure his career out; he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Once he stepped into the underground world of music, there was no looking back. Learning new things and making himself more familiar with the world of techno music. He wanted to try and play everything this genre had to offer. Soon he made himself familiar with the art of DJ’ing, after performing at various underground platforms, Skoden was still hungry for more. He always had room to learn more skills and wanted to compose his music and create his sounds, as he realised that being a DJ was simply not enough."

Zuzana Hakl is a DJ/producer from Prague. The inspiration for her tracks comes from industrial and 90's sounds. Zuzana spends her time experiencing and recording sounds that surround us in everyday life, then she mixes them with sounds that feel as if they emerged from another dimension. Her techno style is fast, harsh, but yet also funky.

Zuzana is a rising star in the Czech techno community and has shared the decks with powerful techno artists including Sara Landry, Cassie Raptor, SveTec, and Alignment.

Today we're back with a hard hitting mix from the Y.A.W.A?! Records co-founder, Danielle Ciuro!

Based in Birmingham, Danielle Ciuro is fast becoming a well known name within the UK techno scene. Her style draws inspiration from the early 2000's, fusing old school groove with punchy kicks and distinct atmospheric melodies. Danielle has perfected her sound to provide non-stop, energetic hard techno throughout her sets. She has recently put out an incredible EP release along with a release on Blackworks and a remix with LESSSS.

OM is a multi-talented artist originally from Kazakhstan, now based in Prague, Czech Republic.

OM expresses his artistry through his work as an accomplished tattoo artist and with his productions. 

Beginning his musical career as a hip-hop beatmaker, OM harnessed his skills and brought them into the underground electronic music space. The sound choice in his sets is a truly infectious and unique experience. He brings you on a journey through emotions, from sad to happy, or from floating in air into the depths of hell.

Pulsar is the collaboration project of Manchester-based Faster Horses and Poppy Fraser. After months of DJing together, they dialed in on the combination of their sounds. Taking inspiration from the celestial object that derives their name, Pulsar takes you on a journey through a deep space-like atmosphere with a creative blend of psychedelic trance and techno that comes together in a mesmerizing result. 

They are one of the most interesting projects of 2023 and have a bright future ahead!

Rudosa is an artist who is deeply embedded in the Manchester techno scene. He has established a formidable reputation due to his high-quality productions, versatile mixes, and clear drive to push boundaries and develop the scene.

He has been active since 2008 as a hugely respected artist worldwide, and more recently label boss of Moments In Time, and owner of music school Make Me A DJ. Clearly driven by love and passion for his craft, he has demonstrated his deep affection for the scene with his infectious desire to use his platform and skills to elevate other artists.

This mix provides an intriguing insight into where Rudosa’s current sound is, with his 90s/early 2000s influences blended nicely into a hard grooves/hard techno mix..

Jelson was born and raised in Wrexham and is now living in the city of Manchester.  He has been crafting his unique and chaotic sound for the past few years. What makes his tracks unique is his different choices of flavours and samples used and the overdriven touch on top to create a quite psychedelic movement of erratic sounds. He has had some impressive releases behind his back, such as releases on Mama Told Ya, Jahanam, and Take Hit Records. Jelson is heavily inspired by many different genres and tastes, such as psy-rock, dub and reggae, and gritty old-school hip hop. When fusing these influences, he creates these fresh infectious earworms that stimulate an addiction. Jelson often creates unpredictable and psychedelic atmospheres in his music, with hard-pounding drops and melodies.

Ketek is a DJ/Producer based in Manchester. He began his techno journey with producing hard techno tracks. GFA aka Callum Rocks, 21 years old from Belfast and currently based in Manchester. After cutting his teeth at raves back home, has recently been received into the Northwests techno scene with open arms, playing alongside an array of commendable artists and most recently consolidating a residency with the infamous Tiribä party. 

GFA explores an array of sub-genres to consolidate the main objective of  transcendence. Held together with the main stay of groove orientated techno, a mature track selection is balanced with party infused music that keeps the dance-floor in mind.

For this mix, GFA explores a darker side with broken beats and EBM influences strewn throughout.

Today we have Elliot Ashley, known for pushing his sinister, contagious club sound through his current alias ‘Body Snatchers’. Utilising a range of diverse bassline hooks, fortified by trademark crashing drums & cathartic breakdowns. Resulting in a recent recognition across many of Europes best dance floors.

With releases on Khazad, Unity & OIZ alongside the recent release on FDBK, his signature sound has become slowly embedded in the underground world. More music of his is in the pipeline for 2023, some of which are featured in todays mix.

Born and raised in a small village in Poland, Manchester-based KIEŁ is determined to leave his mark on the music industry. KIEŁ’s sound focuses on highly textured beats with heavy, deep punching drums. He skillfully blends various electronic genres in this mix to create a powerful listening experience.

The Muffin Man is a force to watch out for.  

Her selection combines sexy grooves paired with fast-hitting tunes that will never fail to make you move.

Over her upcoming year already making her ADE, Teletech, and RSO debut Muffin has become known for their signature sexy groove, a style that blends rolling basslines, funky rhythms, and hard grooves to create a sound that is both irresistible and danceable. Her sets are always packed with high energy and infectious beats, leaving her audiences begging for more.

Born in Italy and raised in the heart of east London, Muffin grew up surrounded by a melting pot of musical genres that would later inspire their unique sound. From a young age, they showed a natural interest in music, playing piano, and attending various dance parties.

However, it wasn't until they discovered techno that she truly found her calling. Muffin was drawn to the seductive beats and hypnotic rhythms of house and hard techno, and she soon began honing her skills as a DJ.

London-based DJ, producer and classically trained musician Vindya is delving into her roots. Deeply drawn to music from a young age, she has continued to study the subject academically, and will soon begin her doctorate, researching ancient ritualistic and religious music from her heritage country: Sri Lanka. Given this background, it is not a surprise that Vindya identifies with a vastly repetitive, percussion-heavy, and hypnotic techno sound. 

She has flourished over the past two years, carving out a space for herself in the energetic, four-to-the-floor, and groove-oriented soundworld.

Her recent set for London’s FLUXO paid homage to her alternative, Dutch-born roots, largely selecting tracks by Amsterdam’s finest producers to forge a relentless and uplifting groove. 

With countless musical endeavours in the pipeline, such as intertwining these early roots, you can expect to hear much more from this eclectic artist.

Beat maker and tastemaker Arkane has been a stalwart member of the Manchester techno community for a number of years. Formally co-running the sophisticated label Abyss, Arkane's ear for good music has been a long-standing skill that has transferred across to his own productions.

Starting out together with co label boss Alexander as "Kander", Kane moved on to producing under a new solo alias. Since then, Arkane has been forging a new palette as well as pursuing different styles and sounds, which is evident in this mix.

Izzy Bolt is a DJ and digital artist based in Manchester. Well versed in raving, she’s drawn influence from techno, dnb, jungle, hardcore and gabber (and-everything-in-between) raves attended across the years.

As of late, besides bedroom mixing/ producing, she’s been featured on the line ups of Boiler Room, Teletech, XXL Techno and Bollock's Club with her energetic ear crushing sets, as heard in her mixes for Possessions and Boiler Room's "hard dance" series. She’s held a residency with Reform Radio since 2019, hosting guests and labels from the cutting edge sphere of sound, where she opens up appreciation for any sort of music that pricks her ears.Izzy Bolt is a DJ and digital artist based in Manchester. Maul is a Hard techno DJ based in Doncaster, co-founder of the Shed Sagas, and a resident of the Leeds-based crew Rogue Puppet Records.
 
Although relatively new to the scene, he has been turning heads with his relentless energy and passion on the decks. His sets are full of heavy drums, industrial sounds, and dark melodies throughout. Maul impresses crowds with his selections of hard percussive sounds while seamlessly blending noise-heavy synths to create a raw and menacing atmosphere. Be on the lookout for Maul; he has a bright future ahead.

SOTO, real name Graciela Soto, is a Venezuelan born DJ/producer who maintains a focus on a blend of hypnotic melodies and driving beats.

She moved to London in 2014 and quickly fell in love with the electrifying techno scene, dedicating herself to attending every party and festival she could to fully immerse herself in the scene.

Her unique style draws from a diverse range of influences, blending hypnotic melodies and hardcore industrial beats to create a sound that is entirely her own.

With her undeniable talent and dedication to her craft, SOTO made a splash in the techno world last summer with the release of her debut track "Core" on the esteemed label, Second State.

She will also be releasing her first EP containing four tracks on Diffuse Reality in the near future.

James Cavalli is an Anglo-Italian DJ with a soft-spot for anything groovy. Although he grew up in a musically and artistically rich environment, James only discovered Electronic Music upon moving to the Netherlands, where he fell in love with the energy and psychedelia of the after-hours techno scene. As clubs began shutting down in the pandemic, James took it upon himself to keep the party alive by learning how to DJ. Ever since, he has played at venues such as BASIS, Sexyland and the Landbouwbelang in Maastricht, where he has put on parties with his collective and label re:code.

Currently studying a Masters in Neuroaesthetics in London, James is fascinated by the therapeutic effects of rhythm and texture in electronic music. This mix reflects this interest, by combining ethereal soundscapes by razor-sharp grooves, ranging in rhythm and warmth.

Dahryl is a renowned techno Producer/DJ from Belfast, UK. After years of producing gritty, merciless percussive techno, he has focused his sound to showcase a more groove-infused soundscape. With releases on mighty labels such as Perc Trax and Soma, Dahryl’s productions have impressed legends of the scene such as Dax J, Perc, and Paula Temple. His track “You Don’t Always Have To Win” was handpicked by Resident Advisor as “Best Techno of 2019”.  

Dahyrl’s current approach to production takes his love for raw textures and expertly combines them with infectious rhythms that leave listeners in awe.  

This mix exemplifies how versatile Dahryl’s sound is as an artist who always vies to push boundaries and evolve.

Fractions is a Prague-based electronic music producer and DJ duo of high-energy, genre-bending productions with elements of the late 90s – early 00s electronic music. In the duo's own words, they create "the soundtrack for highly energetic nights." A sound which no doubt is a derivative from their childhood with influences of US, UK and European cultures.

Berlin-based label Fleisch discovered them in 2018. The outcome of this collaboration was their sold-out "Control" and "Scars Of Love" EPs. Touring started to pick up, but it was when they were asked to debut for Klubnacht at Berghain in 2019, which was only the 3rd gig of their career, that things naturally took off for them. 

As a frequent contributor to DAX J’s infamous label Monnom Black, the duo were recently invited to take over Fold as part of the World of Monnom Black 24hr event in London, a momentous occasion that brought together some of the world of techno’s most well-respected artists.

In this mix, Fractions takes classic EBM elements and manifests a nostalgic look into the dark side of techno. With influences stemming from The Prodigy and Limp Bizkit, Fractions have incorporated grunge vocals alongside their signature raw, driving sound.

Having consistently played the most illustrious, largest clubs and festivals right across the world, in January Perc took the challenge of taking his diverse sound to The DBA, an old school, traditional British pub turned underground rave space over on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester, with a 3 hour closing of The Lounge.

This was what happened, with a few words from Ali himself:

"The January event was my first time playing at The DBA in Manchester, but I had heard from a few DJ friends that it was a mad place to play.


My plan was to start with quite a house party / afterparty type of vibe (like the DJ Sandy track at 35 mins) and then see where the crowd wanted to go from there. 


The start of the set is filled with a lot of layering. Riffs and vocals like the DJ Funk (RIP) cuts at 11 mins layered over drum loops from other tracks. This seemed to keep the energy level building and then I could slowly bring the bigger riffs and hooks and some harder acid tracks as the set got a little tougher and faster.


After that it was just a case of seeing how far I could take the crowd and how far they would take me. I remember a lot of cheers, people charging forwards when certain tracks dropped and some attempts to dance on tables." - PERC
