He’s back! 18 months have passed since he helped Holic Trax launch with the evergreen ‘Danceaholics’ EP, Mr G returns to Tomoki Tamura’s label with another session of insatiable tech soul. 
One of the most venerated men in techno, Colin McBean paints from a strictly timeless sound palette. Refusing to kowtow to any trends or fads, both he and his collection of analogue hardware have remained highly relevant and well respected for almost 15 years. Naturally this latest EP is no exception. 
We kick off with ‘A G Moment’. Strutting with Detroitian distinction, the groove is awash with thick woozy chords. Instantly captivating, they set the foundations for the dual vocal trickery that follows as the lead loop is complemented by swooning ‘oohs’ in the background. Undiluted galvanised soul, it’s G at his most playful and sonically seductive.
‘So Get Down’ follows with percussive panache. A forthright fusion of thundering kicks and rolling bongos, we’re soon introduced to a cheeky snippet of a very well-known vocal. Guaranteeing that your floor will ride on time, every time, the beautiful simplicity and solidity of this is matchless. 
A firing funk finale, ‘Whant It’ closes the show. Swaggering with full flavoured drum dynamics, Mr G’s trademark hip-shaking infectiousness is in full effect. With just enough space in the swinging rhythm to introduce a sexy, purring vocal and icy star-gazing pads, it’s yet another sensuous showdown.
Another sweat-inducing session from Holic Trax and another exemplary exercise in classic contemporary techno from M G: have yourself ‘A G Moment’ today.

The next EP on Holic Trax, limited to 500 coloured vinyl, is a collaboration from Running Back & Desolat man Robert Dietz and Ibiza based house talent Tuccillo complete with a edit from Frenchman and Apollonia member, Shonky.
Robert Dietz has long been crafting essential tech house and minimal grooves on Desolat as well as his own labels, and Tuccillo has recently shot to fame off the back of EPs on labels like 2020Vision and Holic Trax. Together they are a hugely talented pairing as the three original tracks here prove.
Kicking off the EP is ‘Juice’, an amped up and full-blooded house cut with rattling metallic percussion,loopy sub bass and plenty of dancing potential. It’s quick, a little trippy and certainly engaging. Next up, ‘We Can’t Stop’ is less intense, but is still built on warm rubbery kick drums. Sharp edged percussive ticks help drive the thing along and act as little hooks that you cant help but latch onto.
Searching synths span the track’s horizon at the mid point and when it kicks once again there’s analien air to the thing that makes it a little bit spooky.
‘Ishine Ushine’ is a much more broken beat and playful affair, with tumbling drums and percussion,party starting horns and more loopy bass all coalescing into a funky, fun bit of house music.Last but not least, Shonky re-works ‘We Can’t Stop’ into a sleek, seductive and trance inducing house number with a constant groove that really pulls you in. It’s textbook Shonky and rounds out the vinyl in some style. Buy the EP digitally and you’ll also get a Shonky rework of ‘Juice’ that is fat, urgent, and
intricately groove driven.

Influential house label Holic Trax is launching a new sub series here with a debut EP from Ivan Iacobucci entitled Monoklo 1.
The sub label, also call Monoklo, will showcase a deeper, darker house sound that focusses on the dance floor and sees all material selected by the boss, Tomoki Tamura.
Behind this first EP is Italian Ivan Iacobucci, who has been producing since the ‘90s on Nite
Grooves, King Street, Smoke Joke and many others. Influenced by everything from jazz to Detroit techno, afro cuban beats to pure funk, he has a truly fresh approach to sound.
Up first, ‘Router’ is a deep, bubbly house track with corrugated drums and dusty hi hats.
Spooky synths add a sense of space and depth and it’s an intimate way to kick off the EP.
‘Anorak’ is another deep cut with warm and cuddly vibes pervading to bubbly, soft edge drums and captivating rhythms. Filled with organic textures and rich with a human feel, the cut sucks you right in from the off.
Vinyl only cut, ‘De Mai Sus’ then rocks back and forth with deep, bubbly basslines, streaming sci-fi melodies and kinetic percussive patterns that are subtle but that really bring the funk. 
All analogue sounding and dynamic from the ground up, it’s a spaced out and emotive house cut that will make you feel as well as dance.
Buy the EP digitally and you will get bonus roller ‘Stakhanovite’, but either way this is an essential and classy way to start a new series.

To mark the 20th release on essential house label Holic Trax, boss man Tomoki Tamura steps up wth his first solo outing on the imprint. Coming on vinyl and digital, one of the cuts is a sample for you to use on your own tracks that you can then fire back to the label.
Founded in 2012, this go-to label is run by London based Japanese DJ and producer Tomoki, who has A&Red some rock solid, no nonsense house music from artists like Mr G, Rick Wade, Tuccillo, Keita Sano and many other key talents. Now he impresses with four of his own firing cuts which will hopefully be the first of many.
The title track gets things underway with big flabby bass underpinning trippy synth details and loopy drums. It is a straight up house jam that is deep and driving, sprinkled with twinkling melody and will make a big impact in any set. An even more stripped back and direct dub version is included for those who like it deep and playful. The absorbing ‘Keypella 4 U’ is a spooky thirty-second synth sample that is fluid and cosmic, and can be used in your own music in anyway you like.
The creepy ‘Room 202’ is an atmospheric number with sci-fi sounds and deep space synths all unfolding over a machine drum line and forceful kicks. It is back room dancing dynamite that will make anyone sweat. Last but not least, standout vinyl only treat ‘NY Bassworks’ is a skipping, percussive house number with wonky sine waves and crisp hits all jacking you into a groove.
This is another faultless releases on Holic Trax that will win the boss and his label many new fans as a result.

Tomoki Tamura’s Holic Trax label has long been renowned as a canny exporter of clued in house and techno. Their latest continues in this regard, as Tamura again calls on a series of renowned label friends to bring the heat. With names such as Mr.G, Satoshi Tommie and Tuccillo all appearing it here alongside Tamura himself, it’s no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years of the label, is filled with drama and high points throughout.
This is immediately obvious from Mr.G’s “Soba Shioyaki”. Titled in homage to the label’s Japanese heritage, it’s a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. Deep but tough, it’s a perfect of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. G’s “Komorebi” puts a tough emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here. 
HT24 comes from Satoshi Tommiie & Tuccillo, two producers whose sounds are perfectly suited to Holic’s output. Their four-track contribution starts with “Do It”, a spiky catchy number that’s exciting from the off. “What Row” sees the boys inject some added funk into the equation, before “To Ray” ups the intensity with a raw, pulverising aesthetic that takes no prisoners. Wrapping up their side of the bargain is the digital only “You Know”, a real bumper of a track with Chicago-inspired synth stabs that help bring it to higher planes.
It’s the left to Tamura himself to close the offering via HT25. A1, the appropriately named “5ive Years’ is a techno workout of the type that’s notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel. Unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it’s the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around he mixing deck. “Polyphonic Six” displays the producer’s more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that’s hard not to embrace. All things told, this is a wonderfully diverse package from Tamura & co. Here’s to the next 5!
