can’t believe it’s been about 1 year since “The Love That Remains.” That was my first mix to cross 1K, 5K, and now 10K+ listens. I’m sure most of you know this but I don’t make any money from listens and the gigs that I occasionally play cover just enough for transportation. I actually lose money with every mix with the amount of music I buy. But that doesn’t matter. It was never about the money.

1 year ago I started upping my mixes with original mashups that I hoped no one has ever heard before. Id like to say I accomplished that! Each and every mix challenges me in so many niche, micro and macro ways as an artist, as a storyteller. “Me Without You” is my fastest and hardest mix to date (~1 song per min for the first 15min!), even though my transitions are pretty basic. In my head I wanted to tell the story of the ups and downs, give and take, ebb and flow of a relationship, with some of my favorite songs right now. Hope you’re able to interpret in whatever way brings you comfort :)

Life has taken me on so many different journeys recently. Some have been so difficult but most have been amazing. I was given the honor of djing my brother’s wedding (also planning for my own lol), went on my first cruise, and now I’m packing to return to edc! When I come back, I have 2-3 more shows in the pipeline and im so damn grateful. It really feels like this project of mine is growing. With that being said, this might be one of my last mixes as Van Thomas. Thank you all for listening and supporting. Every interaction, comment, and dm motivates me to such a high degree. Probably the most different type of mix I've done to date. For this mix, I wanted to shed some "light" on a genre that I've been super into lately; Cinematic Bass. I've been wanting to make a set/mix that focuses on the story telling aspect while taking you on a journey from beginning to end. While listening to this, I hope that the narrator guides you through each scene as it did in my mind. The experience will hit different, I promise!
