"The Nearing" is an evolving album by Hollow Frames and a companion album to its predecessor, “THE MANAGEMENT OF FOREST AFFAIRS.” While the former centered around the themes of “space" and a certain fictional location, this current and ongoing "companion" album focuses on the concept of "time” and specifically on the experience and process of emerging, evolving and eroding.

The Nearing is happening. It is inevitable and ever upon us. Drifting like a ghost ship along a black stream, The Nearing reveals itself in a multitude of ways throughout time. When it comes, it engulfs us in a rush and leaves us stunned, like a deer caught in the headlights. To yield to the paralysis is to be swept away and perish; to survive is to learn to stay afloat--at least for a while. We are now witnessing its latest occurrence.

Along A Black Stream is the second instance of The Nearing. Drifting like a ghost ship along a black stream, The Nearing reveals itself in a multitude of ways throughout time. In this instance, it comes in the form of a storm, stirring up ominous images of frightening things soon to come. Is it inevitable or was this of our own making? Yet, we laugh. We laugh out loudly and revel in our sweet lie! Remember ye: This has happened before and it will happen again. The Nearing is ever upon us. We're witnessing only its second apparition. Dive into the "Electronic Doom Rock" soundscapes of Hollow Frames' ongoing and "evolving" album, "The Nearing." The project explores themes of time, emergence, erosion, and existential drift. It is an experiment in an expanding and "additive" approach to creating a musical album. With each new track, the project evolves further until it reaches its full blossom. The end result is yet unknown, neither to the listener nor to its creator much like the experience of existence itself.

THE NEARING IS NOW UPON US. REMAIN VIGILANT. STAY ALERT. BE READY. 

Drifting between darkwave melancholy and industrial grit sprawled across dreamlike soundscapes, a sound emerges from a desolate periphery with unwavering resolve. Led by producer and composer Fyodor Sakhnovski, Hollow Frames is an “Electronic Doom Rock” music experiment with strong cinematic and conceptual leanings.

Previous releases include an electro-industrial concept album "THE MANAGEMENT OF FOREST AFFAIRS," based on the novel "The Snail on the Slope" by Soviet-era authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. The album is a sci-fi musical expedition into the depths of a mysterious Forest, governed and investigated by an ominous Administration. It examines the destructive aspects of humanity’s relationship with nature, addressing urgent themes of environmental degradation and collapse driven by reckless, negligent, and unaccountable policies.

More recently, Fyodor collaborated with Chicago singer-songwriter David Safran to re-imagine Brother Claude Ely’s classic gospel tune, "Ain’t No Grave," as a haunting murder ballad confronting police brutality.

Hollow Frames' current project is an experiment in an “expanding” and "additive" approach to album creation, a so-called "evolving album," titled "The Nearing," that focuses on the experience and the process of emerging, evolving and eroding.

In addition to Hollow Frames, Fyodor is a co-founder of the electronic rock group @radiantdevices, which has performed alongside acts like Psychic TV, Xiu Xiu, Saul Williams, Pere Ubu, and Man or Astro-Man? among others. He is also a guitarist in the Berlin-based alternative art-punk band @animalfears
