New playlist for me

You'd think i'd celebrate the 100th edition of the monthly-ish show I started many years ago by making a big fuss about it... and I must admit I did overthink it for a little while. Lord knows I love all kinds of musical challenges and ideas, they're what keep me going. 

But actually wouldn't celebrating the 100th edition be even better if I just focused on what the inspiration behind show #1 was: simply to play recent discoveries (both new and old) that I'm excited to share with an audience -- namely, YOU!

Oh but one piece of exciting news for show #100. I have started a new radio residency with the fine folks from Brussels' KIOSK RADIO! That just might be the thing I needed to get back on a consistent pace. 

100 shows in, I still love sharing these musical treasures with you.

Guinea Conakry has a rich musical history, especially after the country’s independence in 1958 which allowed decades of beautiful music to flourish across the country.

The Syliphone record label has allowed many talented orchestras to record their music, constituting now an invaluable cultural heritage.

Guinean Music is fantastic and clearly unique : a blend of traditional, West-African and Afro-Cuban music. 

Beyond their typically deep, funky and groovy music, Guinean orchestras have also played Latin music, covering Cuban songs the Guinean way. 

The result is breathtaking....
