I first heard ‘Be Here Now’ in 2010 and fell in love with the song as I drove down long windy country roads with the views of open fields and mountains off in the distance. A song can really speak to you in moments such as that. Somehow one day I heard a remix in this song so took this very organic guitar and string song and snapped it to a 4/4 grid and began to play with how I could bring this song to the dance floor and still tell the story that Ray LaMontagne is telling us without losing it’s soul in the process. I hope I succeeded and I hope you can find something in this mix that moves you too.

A long-time fan of the label 4AD and their many artists, one album has stood out the most to Ives over the years and that's Filigree & Shadow with the song 'Come Here My Love' by This Mortal Coil. Harking back to trance from the early 2000s this remix blends the haunting vocal melodies of Jeanette Dwyer with a slowly building rise to a bass-heavy chorus that then brings things down to a heartbeat pulse… only to rise again for its finale climax. This song was originally written by Van Morrison in ‘74 and covered by 'This Mortal Coil' in '86.

"This song started in a hotel room in China after touring for a few weeks in Australia- I remember feeling quite far from home. Through the process of putting everything together, I was in somewhat of a nostalgic and dark frame of mind, and I wanted to leverage that mood. I really wanted to reference the kind of imagery, film, TV I have grown up loving- the likes of Ridley Scott, and dystopian anime, like Akira."
