By now, after a few years and many weeks of some wonderfully diverse contributions to this series, we believe our priorities must've become clear: we blatantly care about freshness as much as we constantly aim for novelty. This much was obvious, as much as our admiration for the collective endeavour of our contemporaries in reassessing and reappreciating the past, finding and sharing new ways to listen to it, learn from it and love it all over again. But what never fails to impress us is to realise how timelessly universal this ethic has become, pervading many generations all around the world and captivating people as young as our guest for this episode. Looking at any of the many fronts that make up the multifarious agency of this jeune parisienne, it is hard not to admire her utterly relentless and extremely reliable efforts in making all things musical as accessible and as danceable as possible, regardless of when it was done or where it came from. Mimi's movements in the scene, from her leading role at the fantastic CTW Podcasts to wonderful selections such as this one, are guided by this passion for discovery and driven by a desire to disseminate her treasures as far as she can. A deeply relatable mission with which we are just helping her out.

We're delighted to welcome Nala Brown to the GF series this week. The Rotterdam-based Dutch selector is part of the Ampfeminine crew, a collective of female DJs who have diversity as a core part of their vision and aim to create more opportunities for women and minorities in the nightlife community, most recently launching their radio show on Refugee Worldwide. She's caught our attention during her performances at Spielraum some time ago and the Dekmantel Connect streams more recently. True to her style, her selection is an energetic selection with electro at its core with techno and breaks sprinkled along the way. Lock in!

Berlin's disco wizard @Delfonic is an incredible talent. Having just released his second EP of edits for Colombia's ace Nómada Records, we spoke to him in depth about the EP, Berlin, working with Nómada and his favourite year in disco 1977. 

He's a DJ who always lays down spellbinding sets, a product of some seriously impressive musical knowledge, and having already delivered one sublime mix for Le Visiteur we are very pleased to have tempted him back behind the decks for us this time delivering a worship mix for that most fabled of disco years 1977.

With a keen sense for melodic hooks and a rarely paralleled knack for uncovering delectable samples, Berlin-based Australian producer Jad & The (@jad-lee) is making some of the tastiest deeper house music of the moment. With releases on Toy Tonics, 2mr and Axe On Wax all doing the damage and his own Beats Of No Nation label also doing the damn thing, he’s made a serious mark on our minds this year. His mix closes with his breakbeat-focused remix for our very own Leon Revol, showing that he’s still got a lot more breadth to offer.

*How would you describe your sound?*

To be honest I'm still yet to discover my true sound. My 40 unfinished Ableton sessions of completely different musical genres will prove this. Maybe one day I'll pinpoint 'my sound' but just now I'm still experimenting and constantly evolving stylistically and musically.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

I'm very inspired by old disco, soul, funk, afrobeat, and jazz records. I'm constantly digging trying to discover sample sources or inspiration. I'm very into the art of sampling and hip-hop guys like Marley Marl, Pete Rock, Dilla, Madlib and co. 

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* 

It was a funny experience listening to some records I made three or more years ago. Put a smile on my face though and I realised I've progressed a lot in a few years!
