Synopsis:

Many years ago a group of scientists, known as the Sherman Intellectuals, discovered a mystical energy source known as the Cores. These small round glowing spheres contained nearly limitless supplies of power, allowing man to create colossal airships and power whole cities. Today the world is in a decadent age of prosperity and excess. However, that time has nearly come to an end.

A mysterious force called the Blue Mist is slowly consuming the land. Growing unremittingly, the blue mist turns any living being within it into a soulless shell. Only six nations of the world are able to appeal to the Sherman Intellectuals and climb with them high into the sky away from the influence of the mist, but the floating nations are slowly running out of sky.

Gatling is one of the lucky few who lives above the clouds. He is a member of the Black Blades, an elite group of soldiers on the floating island nation of Panzer. However, their plans to unite the six floating nations and fight back the blue mist is hindered when Panzer Island is attacked by a mysterious group of pirates......
