Don’t let the title “Next Big Thing” fool you: the follow-up to Berlin-born artist and DJ Exildiscount’s 2019 debut “Gift” on Reveller Records makes no claim to deliver the hottest shit right now. Instead, their EP serves as a comment on fragile masculinity packaged in infinitely danceable beats.

Ranging in tempo from 100 to 130 BPM, the EP offers a stylistically diverse approach united by tongue-in-cheek subversiveness. The opening track “IdNTT” is a Dark Disco/New Beat anthem built around a “mantra of denial” voice loop. In “Going to Bed Hungry,” house beats and an EBM-inspired bass line suggest danceability, while a sampled monologue cries out against ideological brainwashing. The third and last track of the EP culminates in euphoria born out of driving beats and organ melodies, ranging from harmony to madness. It is nothing less than a battle call: "Down with the Dickness!”

This time last year I was on my way to the Waiting Room while I was tuned in to Capital Xtra when I was blasted by a guest mix which sounded utterly insane. I found out it was Alinka and Shaun J Wright putting together the mix and i was hooked. 
Twirl is becoming something of a stateside institution in terms of the releases being put out and it is easy to see this one being played out for months to come.

The beetle headed man renewed the hot sun everyday before rolling it above the horizon and carrying it away through to the other world after sunset only to renew it again the next day. The third instalment from Jac The Disco's 'Spin on This' output delivers the slow chugging affair of 'Hot Like The Sun' The EP features remixes from London's Kiwi who over the years has created a sound all of his own which has gained support from the likes of DJ Harvey, DJ Tennis and Optimo to name a few. 'Magic Feet' label boss Craig Bratley also features here. Craig himself has earned himself a solid reputation as a producer and re mixer with an eclectic output on respected labels such as Future Boogie, Throne of Blood, Tsuba, Instruments Of Rapture and Claremont 56. She was elegant and daring, beautiful and hypnotic as she danced the night away. Who knew where she'd come from and what magnificent spirit had brought her to life beneath the cloak of darkness and the dancing stars. The way in which she moved was fascinating and perplexing, dancing atop the sand as the wind howled and the rain poured. It were as if she was commanding some great orchestra, up there in the sky, as the thunder crashed and the bangs of drums echoed between the clouds. She was god, her name was Hestia. 

Inflect Records are set to release a compilation of new material from an assortment of artists, proto disco, italo, acid and beyond on a fun filled record set to move dancefloors and festivals. This track, "Hestia", features on the release, an arpeggio driven affair by JackWasFaster.
