Sporting another portion of all-round sonic solutions, Ghost Syndicate is back with EREBUS: a reckless dive into the depths of the darkest and the eeriest sides of Dubstep. 

EREBUS bears the name of the Greek god of darkness, and if you asked us if he himself had a hand in creating this pack, we’d say that was pretty much the case. 

EREBUS stands out among our other Dubstep packs thanks to its dusty, almost lo-fi character, with muffled high-mids, harsh biting transients and bulky low-end. 

Drum-wise it’s perfect for molding dark and viscous 140bpm grooves, thanks to its hefty kicks, face-whacking snares, rasping tops, and dubbed-out perc fillers.

The atmospheric side is inspired by the authentic underground sonics, and is comprised of haunting pads and chords, spine-chilling synth licks, and an array of dreary accidentals and FX licks soaked in reverb for best immersion. 

And, of course, there’s the heavyweight low-end bearing the trademark of God of Darkness himself, with convulsive predatory mids ready to give the walls a nice shudder when combined with the viscous throbbing subs.

His phone had been ringing off the hook all morning but he'd chosen to brazenly ignore it. On the approach to his house he noticed clothes strewn across the street and a huge pile of cardboard boxes clumsily chucked outside the door. Either side of the road, his neighbours looked on bewildered, a couple trying to hide their laughter at his public humiliation. He looked down at his phone and the 100 missed calls, wondering if it was too late to call back...

South London label PROGRAMM are starting life with a three-track V/A, which gives a taste of what you can expect from their releases to come. With a mission to deliver soundsystem frequencies that will make you dance, the label and party will also act as a platform for emerging producers and DJs pushing UK bass music. PROGRAMM001 calls on the skills of three up-and-coming artists, D3u5E (who's lined up for a future release on the label), label co-founder ZhaR and our pick from South America via London's Falter.

The bustling roads of South London, a famous melting pot for underground bass music over recent decades. Labels have come and gone, producers and DJs have written their names into history as pioneers of numerous genres that have grown to reach all corners of the globe. Whilst popularity of certain scenes and genres have fluctuated and declined, with local clubs falling victim to unforgiving rate hikes and austerity measures, there is always someone willing to carry the torch for fresh, forward-thinking, future-seeking bass music under any circumstances. And the latest to do so is fresh out the box imprint, PROGRAMM. The fledgling label have begun their quest with an invigorating and versatile EP, featuring three of London's hidden talents, plus a bonus collaboration by label runners Nima & Budos which I have the honour of presenting today.
