The Dawn of Eternity

This creation is for the Disquiet Junto Project 0598: Mixmaster Mic.
The Assignment: Record the same sound with multiple mics; mix the results.
The sounds: improvised on the F integral handpan for 15 minutes based on a rhythm that came into my head while riding the stationary bike and watching Picard. Then improvised on the Cajon for 5 minutes based on the recent memory of the previous handpan session. 
Mic setup for handpan: condensor mic, cardiod dynamic mic, zoom handheld stereo recorder, gopro camera, organelle device set to a chorus effect at 50% wet, magnetic contact pickup attached to the handpan. For Cajon: The two microphones and the organelle. 
Process: stacked all the tracks and muted sporadically. Then muted more and more. Cut a few sections of the session for length. 
Thoughts: This was a great way to add some variation to a recording. I enjoyed the process and much of the results. I hope to use the process, or one like it, again. 
Fun things I heard: the sound of the floor creaking, the dog barking, my feet stomping. Happy accidents when the cajon and pan kind of lined up well even though they weren't played together.

A collaboration for Disquiet Junto. I based my track on week 2's track by @undermulden and @encym. I played some chords and synth arps from my Deluge in some of the spaces, while trying to maintain the sparse ambient feel of the originals.

BURGESS HILL

Born and Raised in New Orleans, music was my first love. After seeing  James  Bond ‘You Only Live Twice’ in the late sixties, the theme music had a profound affect on me.  I played in Rock bands throughout  the late seventies and eighties, writing and composing rock melodies,  but appreciated all genres of music.  Raising a family became the most important thing for the next 20 years, so music was set aside, but never forgotten. After moving to Nashville in 2018, music has once again stoked this passion for writing and composing music from a low flame into a full burn. Now I find myself on a new and unique avenue writing cinematic music using MIDI guitar and keys.
