Hoom Side of the Sun, Vol 04

Plecta - Narcissus [Hoomidaas]

Sydney and Los Angeles based Classical Pianist/Composer Van-Anh Nguyen and
DJ/Drummer/Producer Mark Olsen blend their two worlds together to form a unique
dreamy mix of acoustic and electro sounds. Ranging from ambient soundscapes to
Melodic House, Double Touch brings their live musicianship deep into their creations.
Double Touch are official All Day I Dream artists with multiple releases and
performances at the All Day I Dream events around the world.Their shows are a
unique blend of a traditional DJ set and live performances, adding in live keys and
drums, improvising new directions into their music during their live sets. The synergy
and connection between the two is contagious from the stage.
After Lee Burridge played 3 Double Touch songs in his MIXLAB NYC set, Double
Touch emerged onto the scene in 2019 with their debut EP on All Day I Dream –
“Adagio” which took out the No.1 releases spot on Beatport (Electronica/Downtempo)
as well as appeared in the Top 100’s in other genres. Since then, they have released
everything from downtempo music on Buddha Bar, through to their club style on
TrybesOf.Their Chorophobia EP (TrybesOf) hit Top 5 (Melodic House/Techno) on
Beatport.Their debut single “Broken Paradise was also featured on a Ministry of Sound
compilation CD.
Double Touch have performed their DJ set with live instrumentation at events all
around the globe, including Return to Rio Festival 2019 (Australia), Cercle (Omnia
Indonesia), Golden Gate Park (San Francisco, USA), Cloud 9 (Fiji), Glow Rooftop
(Vietnam) and Omnia Bali (Indonesia).
With radio plays and support from artists such as Lee Burridge, Sebastien Leger,
RUFUS, Above & Beyond, Facundo Mohrr, Roy Rosenfeld, Guy Mantzur, and Nora en
Pure,Double Touch are off to a great start, with much more to come.

Hoomidaas Records is the record label of the DJ/artist/producer/multi-instrumentalist Armen Miran along with his partner Christina Acobiance. The word Hoomidaas is a stylized acronym for the phrase “who made us”, paying homage to how past narratives shape the present moment. Armen states, "I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for my past." This shows that he holds a deep respect for experiential knowledge above all else and intends to capture that through this label venture. Furthermore, when isolated as “hoom” in Armenian it means “raw” and when artists are invited to be a part of Hoomidaas releases Armen asks them to imagine what the raw part of the sun (the other side of the sun that we cant see) would look like. He loves to challenge their perspectives and hear what experiential wisdom emanates from his fellow creators. 
 
The music, artists, and artwork/design are a huge priority for Armen. His mission is to hand-craft every aspect of Hoomidaas adding to its memorable intrigue via his experiences travelling and playing shows. He tells us that, "a few years ago I played a 12 hour set surrounded by the most beautiful artwork all over the walls of the space. That space is called Rambalkoshe. Since then we have been collaborating with Rambalkoshe and they’re who made our vision and art design come to life for many of the illustrations associated with the label." The synchronistic nature of the partnerships he embarks on are a strong indicator that intuition combined with drive can take you somewhere truly magical. 
 
Currently the label works with a handful of artists. They have each of their artists release a mix on their mix series called “Midaas” which comes out every two months. Additionally the label releases bi-annual compilations, one in the summer called “Hoom Side of the Sun” and one for the winter called “Hoom Side of the Moon”.
