This is a special song to me, on an even more special day. As a man, I often feel I forget to pay attention to the important women around me. Although I love them with all my heart, my vision sometimes blurs to what they battle internally. In my life there have been women who have built me from the ground up, while breaking down on the inside. To those who went through so much but chose to give me so much more, to those who nurtured me through my deepest fears and insecurities, without you I’d be nothing.
So here’s to those women like my mother, Nadia Ibrahim. You taught me that sometimes, those who provide the most positivity, may be dealing with the most negativity. That even when you think someones alright, it never hurts to ask how they’re feeling. That even when your at your worst in life, you do your best to provide for your own. Most importantly though, you taught me to smile through all the bullshit.. because you never know who it may lift around you. So have a day and a half momma, words can’t describe how much you deserve it. Happy birthday! I love you.
