Wrote this song about a conversation between me and my mother. There's a sacred place in Texas where peyote grows abundantly, the traditional medicine used in the Native American Church (NAC). It's referred to as "The Gardens". During a phone call, my mother told me a story about going to a ceremony that took place there, nearly 20 years after her last time visiting. We spoke about spirituality, medicine, and our personal relation to the tipi and ceremony. I have always wanted to include my traditional (but not first) language, Southern Cheyenne in my songs. It's a dying language, with very few living native speakers including my father. So, I'm constantly looking for ways to breath new life into it and carry it on(wait for the next few songs i share lol). The main beat of the song is the traditional water drum and gourd, used for songs during ceremony. It's a sound that has lulled me to sleep my whole life and brings me peace, so it was important to me for these instruments to be included. It's vulnerable, messy and allllll me! Debuted in a performance art intensive at the ABQ S-Staff theater in June 2025.

This is a SUPER personal song, that's pretty self explanatory if you're listening. I was out visiting my mother last year and joined the pick party they threw while I was there. Basically, just a jam session that I recorded. All the other musicians were improving with me and it was their first time hearing it! So, they're all incredible and I hope I can get to that level some day lol
